OPSEC Trump (plus more)

When President* Trump calls old friends on one of his iPhones to gossip, gripe or solicit their latest take on how he is doing, American intelligence reports indicate that Chinese spies are often listening — and putting to use invaluable insights into how to best work the president and affect administration policy, current and former American officials said.

Mr. Trump’s aides have repeatedly warned him that his cellphone calls are not secure, and they have told him that Russian spies are routinely eavesdropping on the calls, as well. But aides say the voluble president, who has been pressured into using his secure White House landline more often these days, has still refused to give up his iPhones. White House officials say they can only hope he refrains from discussing classified information when he is on them.
If thy are hoping that Trump would excercise any degree of self-control, they have to be severeely delusional.

Trump denies it, of course, but Trump lies about everything. Like the overly large toddler that he s, Trump takes umbrage at anyone even mildly suggesting to him that he shouldn't do something that he wants to.

Meanwhile:
Saudi prosecutors said Thursday that Turkish evidence shows the slaying of journalist Jamal Khashoggi was premeditated, another change in the shifting Saudi Arabian narrative of what happened to the writer who was killed in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.
I wonder what is Arabic for "Deputy Fife". The Saudis have said that "he left on his own," "he died in a fistfight", "he was was accidentally killed when he tried to leave" and only now are they suggesting that it was a hit.

The Turks claim to have surveillance footage of Saudi diplomatic vehicles going into a forest a few days befre, presumably to scout or prepare places to dump body parts The Saudis may be in theposition of having to acknowledge at least part of the truth, since none of their lies are standing up to scrutiny.

Now, back the the bombs:
President* Donald Trump blamed the media Thursday for a “very big part of the Anger we see today in our society,” as law enforcement scrambled to find those responsible for sending pipe bombs and other suspicious packages to a list of prominent Democrats including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and to CNN.
Trump has been debasing the political rhetoric in this country for a very long time, going back to his racist birtherism, calling Mexicans rapists and murderers, approving of violence against reporters, saying that there were "good people" among the neo-Nazis and calling the free press "the enemy of the people".

Trump is a master of hateful rhetoric. He doesn't use a dog-whistle, he uses an air horn. For him to now blame the press for the current tone is laughable.

  1. I saw this on Twitter this morning:

"Did Trump call Obama or Hillary?"

    "Ask the Chinese."

  2. At least he isn't putting classified emails on an unsecured server....

Is he using his Iphone for personal or business conversations?

I always figure if I am using a phone, wired or wireless, SOMEONE is listening.

  5. Er, B., you do remember that Bush, Part Deux was found to be doing the same thing, eh?

The most basic problem is that carrying on a conversation on an unsecured device naturally leads to data spills. It’s roughly the same as getting a call from “your bank” and giving the guy your password rather than calling your bank back at a number you know is theirs to verify the identity of the caller. Also, the Chinese and the Russians can use the unclassified data to exert influence on the Stable Genius, including determining possible blackmail and pressure targets.

  6. No worries, B, because Trump can’t remember any classified info to blab about when the Chinese listen in.

  8. CP: If yer gonna bring up the Caravan and influencing the election....please tell me who is doing the logistics for those 7000 +/- people...food, water, sanitation, transportation....and who is PAYING for them?

I figure it hasta be costing about $25K-$30K PER DAY.

Perhaps someone is trying to influence the election?

(hint, prolly not the "russians" doing this one....)
