Kavanaugh's Male Privilege

Of the many things that were notable and disturbing at the same time was the temper tantrum that was pitched by Brett Kavanaugh during th Senate earing last Thursday. Kavanaugh yelled, berated his opponents and, a time or two, openly weeps over how cruel it was that he couldn't just step into the job that he felt that we was entitled to have.

If a woman had sat there and yelled and cried, she would have been dismissed out of hand as being emotional, hysterical and certainly not of a temperament fit for even a trial court, let alone the Supremes. She likely would be laughed out of the hearing room.

So it's OK for a male Republican to yell and cry in a pubic setting.

Another thing of note was the speed at which the Republicans got rid of the prosecutor who they hired to question Dr. Ford once it became clear that the prosecutor was going to seriously question Kavanaugh about the allegations. Which was a pretty despicable move.

  1. Surely, Comrade, you aren’t surprised that the R’s would use a woman and discard her as soon as it suited them, are you?

  2. Also, he lied. A lot. Under oath, to the senate.

  4. K presented himself as an angry mean drunk that has bought into and by the Repthugs.

That he lies on many topics is no surprise to any if they have read the available results of his prior court actions and legal work.

He is there to do only the presidents bidding and that of the radical religious factions.

There will be no respect for the court.

    Eck!

  6. So, If he lied, and perjured himeslf, why don't the Dems in the committee charge him?

Because it is hearsay, and nothing more. If he had actually lied, I am sure they would not have missed the opportunity to do something to him.

But don't let the truth come in front of what the DNC has told you to think.

'Tis just as likely that Ms Ford is lying, but there is no *proof* of that either.

  8. It wasn't OK for Kavanaugh to yell and cry.

It wasn't OK for Howard Dean to yell, either. Remember?

  9. Also, Rachel Mitchell's 5-page memo shows she does not believe the evidence from believe that this evidence is sufficient to satisfy the preponderance-of-the-evidence standard.

  10. 3383, Mitchell’s memo reflects the bar set for a prosecutor to make a criminal charge.

  11. Rachel Mitchell wasn’t allowed to question Kavenaugh, therefore her report lacked enough information to come to a conclusion.

  12. Perhaps, B., because they are waiting for the FBI report so as to properly change him? I know, shocking the idea that someone might wait for facts to be determined before acting, eh?

  13. CP: HAHAHAHA.....If that were the case we'd not be having this conversation, would we? The Dems are basing this (so far, at least) on innuendo rather than facts.

    Pick another defense.

  14. Actually, B, there has been action taken on Kavenaugh’s lies:

  15. Anonymous: Sexual assault is a crime. Other than that, there is no standard for a Senate hearing, is there?
Dark Avenger: she questioned the accuser, and cited the inconsistencies and inadequacies of the accuser's statement itself.

  16. 3383, would a competent prosecutor drop a case before the alleged perp was interrogated?

  17. The "Dems" are in the minority on the committee and can't get the votes to proceed on much if any action against the rabid partisan who promised partisan revenge if confirmed.

  18. DA: Glad to see that someone is willing to do more than say things. Now if there is enough evidence that he has perjured himself (A big if, since they can't (so far, at least) even prove the allegations against him) then you might get your wish.

I doubt, however, that he is foolish enough to perjure himself when not only the entire DNC but also the press (but I repeat myself) is watching and waiting to trip him up.

    TIme will tell.

  19. Dark Avenger, would a competent prosecutor waste time on the defendant if the plaintiff didn't present a convincing case in the first place?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Um, the senators didn’t allow Mitchell to question Kavanaugh. Therefore it’s not even a he said/she said case. Sorry if you forgot that inconvenient truth, or want to keep ignoring it.
