He's not the first politician to see himself as the belle of every ball, the star of every show and the corpse at every funeral, but he elevates that sort of narcissism to new heights.
Plus, he apparently can't tell the difference between the Air Force and the Coast Guard. And he thinks that a stealth fighter is optically invisible.
“So amazing,” Trump continued, “that we’re ordering hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of new airplanes for the Air Force, especially the F-35. Do you like the F-35?”That is a jaw-droppingly stupid thing to say. Only Trump could make one yearn for the intellectual rigor of George W. Bush. (OK, so can about half of his cabinet officers.)
The Air Force rep complimented the “game-changing technology” of the F-35 fighter jet, spurring Trump to announce, “You can’t see it. Literally, you can’t see it. So it’s hard to fight a plane that you can’t see, right?”
President Chauncy Gardiner, with a brain like rice pudding.
ReplyDeleteIt's only radar-invisible, and only to short-wavelengths (X-band?)
ReplyDeleteUS radars. It's easily visible to long wavelength Chinese radar (oops?)
Isn't it still in production, or as I (quite possibly mistakenly) understand it pre-production. Not on the market.
ReplyDeleteWhich explain why it can't be seen.
Perhaps he's confusing the USAF with Wonder Woman.
ReplyDeleteNah, TTB, it's active duty. I saw Donnie tossing rolls of paper towels, I just wonder if he was expecting the women to lift their shirts, like Mardi Gras.
ReplyDeleteTo clarify, Thomas. In service with USAF/Marines, still being delivered. Deliveries to European partners starting.
ReplyDeleteGood write up at Brother Benen's Maddowblog. I was under the impression that due to a number of anomalies - like the pilots' O2 randomly failing - it wasn't ready for delivery. From my angle it seems to be not unlike the Osprey, not ready for prime time and not necessarily what it was meant to be.
