Today, So Far

And that's just in my life, since I woke up this morning.

That's before even considering whatever is in the news today.

  1. Should probably get used to it, things are gonna' get uglier before they get purty.

  2. My local news is all "Fire, fire, fire!"
Which is fine by me. The Atlas fire is too close to me and people I love. Daughter's in-laws from Sonoma spent the night already.

And the OC fire is as close to my brother and his family.

  3. I think my sister's house in Santa Rosa may have been burned up in the fire there. I haven't been able to contact her yet, but her landline phone, which she has had for decades is "no longer in service" and it looks like her house is in the middle of an "evacuation zone" on a map published yesterday.

  4. Why, it was just a month ago Our Carnival Barking Tea Pot Dictator was mansplaining Oregon Governor Kate Brown (D-Progressive) how he wasn't going to pay to put out the fires in Oregon, Washington and California.

While I have little sympathy for people who move out/up here and build houses in the "forest" that whole stretch down there has been suburbia, has been the Hotel California for at least the fifty years I've been rippin' and runnin' the West Coast. Breaks this old Oregon Logger's heart to say it but you flatlander Californios have my sympathy.

I'll bet ten bucks Drumpf uck's response will be on parr with Puerto Rico.

  5. Doug- Hopefully her house is just "maybe in the path".
Does your sister or anyone close to her have a cell phone? You probably already know text is the best way to get through with congested and down infrastructure.

Thomas- Hey, it isn't that flat here!

  6. Worst case, trump thinks, "they didn't vote for me." Best case, he just thinks, "Fires = bad ratings. Boring. Sad."

  7. Ms Fit, I sincerely hope any troubles you are going thru are short lived. Best of luck to you.

  8. My sister, her wife, their dogs, and their house are OK as of right now. Just took a few tries to contact her, as she's evacuated and staying with friends for a few days.

TTB: I may live in the flats now, but I grew up in Six Rivers National Forest, and Trinity National Forest.

  9. Cascadia, in my measure of the world. Flew a bunch of logs down there, back in the day: Yreka, Eureka!, Happy Camp. Worked for Siller Brothers out of Yuba City for a long time, had a mill in Red Bluff.

Technically, The High Desert is flatland πŸ˜’
