IIRC, the reason for the deadline business was that the tabloid press works to shorter deadlines than the Times, and they didn't want the news to break as "King Croaks".
ReplyDeleteI read this whole article, and it was clear as glass that QEII hadn't died, the article was just to explain the long drawn out process that would happen after that event.

I was born in the US, but I've always been a not-so-secret monarchist, I guess.
The most interesting part I read was the fact that an office suite, full of scaffolding and under renovation, was readied for use within a 12 hour period, simply because it needed to be. The most amazing part was the phones worked, because everyone knows that you can't get a phone service appointment that quick.
