Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said in a statement that the committee "will make inquiries into whether the government was conducting surveillance activities on any political party's campaign officials or surrogates."It has taken revelation after revelation about Trump's Russian links for Nunes to even grudgingly admit that maybe there should be some sort of inquiry. But let Donald the Unhinged let fly with a middle-of-the-night Tweet-storm based on zero fucking evidence and Nunes turns into a lapdog, eager to lap at Trump's tiny hands and do his bidding. However, not all of the Republicans in the Congress are jumping to Trumpelthinskin's Tweets:
Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton said Sunday that he has not seen evidence that the Obama administration wiretapped Donald Trump or Trump Tower during the campaign.Trump is playing with fire. If there was a FISA wiretap on his associates, that means that there was probably cause to suggest that they were/are Russian assets. A more adroit politician would have worked with his allies in Congress to ensure that such evidence never saw the light of day, or at least not until the middle of the century.
But now that Trump has opened the door to that, it's going to come out. It's going to come out that the spooks knew that influential people in the Trump campaign, if not his administration, were and are spying for Russia. It may come out that Trump knew, or had reason to know, that his campaign was infested with Russian spies.
This could end very badly for him. And by "very badly", I would suggest that impeachment may be the least of his worries.
Clapper said that there wasn't a FISA warrant, but it was also pointed out that Trump isn't the only tenant of Trump tower connected to his campaign, so that may not mean anything.
ReplyDeleteMalcolm Nance said that Trump is behaving like someone in the throes of being caught who isn't quite there yet, but knows it's coming soon.
I still think that referring to his alleged wiretapping as "Nixonian" and comparing it to Watergate is pretty dumb, considering the DNC break ins they have in common.
Do you suppose that he name dropped McCarthy to remind everyone who his political mentor was?

When you ring a bell .....
ReplyDeleteI find it humorous that a conservative web source makes an accusation in order to "help" it's favorite president, which was then read on air by a radical conservative (and by radical, I mean loony), which was then printed by Briebart as "proof". All three outlets, which would love to advance their leader at the expense of the former president, may just be the lever that topples this administration. All because of unsubstantiated statements.

A long as the accusation was unidirectional (Trump--Russia), there was a chance that the Republicans could bury this. But not that great a chance, because that would have required that Дональд keep his mouth shut and his tiny fingers off Twitter.
ReplyDeleteBut now that he's leveled this batshit allegation (Obama ordered wiretaps), the inquiry has to go both ways. Congress can't investigate the alleged wiretaps without looking into the justification for any such wiretaps. Which means digging into that which Tramp doesn't want revealed.
I don't know if he's crazy or desperate, or both.
The other thing, of course, is that this could very much play out in a way that is adverse to Russian interests. But that's a post for another time.
I was here for Nixon's fall and I plan to be here for tRump's fall. It would (will) be so great to finally put the nails in Cheetolini's coffin. I can almost feel sorry for him in the way he is so out of his element trying to be a President. However the way his supporters ignore anything that doesn't come straight from Alex Jone's lips (Ewwww) is actually disgusting to me. That and the nazis influence on our leaders too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so ready for the Russian stuff along with his wiretap paranoia to finally get rid of this shit stained snowflake for good.
I'll be happy to try and deal with Pense, at least he has some understanding of our political processes.
I'm seriously tired of the daily "Damage Report" for our Nation.
I want my Country Back.
