David Petraeus – the former US army general and CIA director who was prosecuted for mishandling classified information – has entered the race to become Donald Trump’s secretary of state, diplomatic sources said on Thursday. This is going to be just too good, as the Right, which has spent years lambasting Hillary Clinton over classified emails, will now give Petraeus a pass over mishandling classified documents.
Petraeus resigned in November 2012 after the FBI discovered he had had an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, and had shared classified information with her. He eventually pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for mishandling the information. People who have seen him recently say he is anxious to return to public life and has privately refused to rule out serving in a Trump administration.
Meanwhile, Trump is getting foreign policy advice from Henry Kissinger, probably the most notorious unindicted war criminal alive.
Meanwhile, it seems that Secaucus Fats was let go because he prosecuted Trump's son-in-law's dad for various bits of financial fuckery. Said son-in-law seems to want to get a top post in the Trump Wes Wing, but the Bobby Kennedy Nepotism Laws might stop that.
Yep, this is going to be good to watch, in a trainwreck-sense of the word.
Does the Trump administration say he is in the running? or just the media?
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot af nopise from the media with no substance.....I believe it is just to try to undermine him.
I heard them complaining about Romney being in the running earlier and asked whether they would prefer Bolton.

Donald Trump took 14 episodes to hire a single apprentice. Now he has to hire hundreds of people for critical jobs over the next two months.
ReplyDeleteWe are doomed.
B nails it. I think the Trump camp leaks little hints of this stuff to the media just to keep the haters foaming at the mouth while he makes his real plans.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, so long as he undoes everything that Obama did, I'll call his presidency a success no matter what else happens.
Right, and we can begin by forcing two of the big 3 auto companies back into bankruptcy and liquidating them, correct?
ReplyDeleteStill got some symptoms of Obama Derangement Syndrome there, Murph.
So the primary requirement of tRump, according to Murphy, is toss around 30 million off health insurance, roll back environmental precautions, and break treaties? The full thing is there is a close to even chance they'll get little to none of that. This sucker is warming up to be a rerun of the Grant Asministration, in terms of appointments/leaking/qualifications/graft.
