A group of bitter dead-enders conspired to assassinate President Lincoln and his cabinet. They killed the President and wounded the Secretary of State, William Seward.

To this day, you'll find the same sort of no-confederate lunatics who believe that that the way to prevail in a civilized society is to murder the politicians they disagree with.

I see a lot of barbarians on TV lately.

  2. My knowledge of history is very weak, did anyone besides the shooter himself and what was it,'the doctor that treated him'(?) ever pay for the crime?
A lot like the Kennedy assassination it seems, where the plotters escaped completely.
Imagine how deep the changes that could have taken place if the plotters had been jailed too.

  3. Eight people were brought to trial. Four were executed. One died in prison. The remaining three were pardoned in 1869.

The doctor's involvement was deeper than that alleged by his family.
