Toljaso, Ferguson TFR Edition

Remember when the FAA imposed a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over Ferguson and some of us thought that it was there to keep those pesky news helicopters away, so the cops could more easily get away with whatever fuckery they had in mind?

That was exactly the reason for it. The justifications proclaimed at the time were bullshit. Not only were they bullshit, the cops kept clinging to their bullshit until it was clear, even to them, that the truth was coming out.

Here's a general rule: Whenever the police brass make public pronouncements on any topic in the news, every word they say is a lie, including the conjunctions and the articles, until proven otherwise.

  1. I initially thought that the first cop was more than likely justified...but the more I find out about the Ferguson police department, the more I think everybody involved was a violent asshole--Brown, the cop who shot him, and the rest of the force.

I can't imagine anyone able to comprehend what a TFR is that didn't immediately think it was bullshit.

  2. I'm starting to apply that rule to everybody.

    This cannot end well.

  3. Oh, and the TFR is now File Not Found.

I hate feeling like a conspiracy nut.

  4. The fun bit is the police didn't understand the first rule about the FAA, that EVERYTHING is recorded dealing with our phone lines. The depressing thing is that the FAA upper types made the TFR happen, even though they knew it made operations into Lambert untenable, and then helped the police change it to make it useable while misleading the press/public. Of course, in doing so, they forgot rule #1 above.

  5. D, the Zero Hedge blog had an entry with both the graphical depiction and the text of the TFR, so I've linked to it.

CP88, maybe I've been flying too long (calendar-wise), because I just assume that the FAA brass is always lying.

  6. #1 FAA lie:
    "Safety was never compromised".

If you see or hear that somewhere, you can take to the bank that safety was compromised.

All of FAA's version of 1981 was a lie from 3 August on.

  7. I'm impressed that some AP journalists actually followed up on this, and that their findings got published.

Still, anyone who denies that we already live in a police state is not paying attention. That the police state is only put into full force for certain events doesn't change the fact that they can and do, at will.
