Can the Model 19 Be Far Behind?

Smith & Wesson is bringing back the Model 66 Combat Magnum.

I guess they've noticed that the prices on used ones are climbing quite a bit.

Update: Here's the listing. They're saying that it's an N-frame? WTF,O?

  1. Hmm, 1911 in 38 Super is similar money, has 10+1 capacity, and weighs the same. Mine has an extra 9mm barrel for the two caliber option.

  2. Why not? They brought the M1917 back last year too, and their .41 Magnums, the 57 and 58, albeit with those stupid key locks on the sideplates.

Give S&W enough time and we'll likely see the old Model 3 making a come-back, probably with a safety lock, of course.

  3. When I bought my 66 I could have bought an N frame model whatever instead. They look clunky and are heavy and I didn't Want an N frame.
The point as I understand it was N frame could handle full time Mag loads with that under barrel lug.
I shoot a wicked +p load and the occasional full house round. Quite happy with the lighter revolver. Nice that they are making revolvers again at all tho.
