Nixon: Not Only a Bigot, But a Traitor

Richard Nixon deliberately sabotaged peace talks in 1968 by sending a personal emissary to meet with the South Vietnamese ambassador to persuade South Vietnam to pull out of the discussions.
[Anna] Chennault was despatched to the South Vietnamese embassy with a clear message: the South Vietnamese government should withdraw from the talks, refuse to deal with Johnson, and if Nixon was elected, they would get a much better deal.
How is that anything other than treason?

Richard Nixon: Racist. Anti-Semite. Unindicted criminal. And now, traitor.

Great legacy.

  1. Reminds me of Reagan delaying the release of the Iran hostages.

And yet real Republicans (and the drones that vote for them,) are all in favor of this. Screw morality, screw laws, screw the country, and screw God, if they could get their hands on Him... it's all about personal interest, power, and money.

  2. This post and the comment by Nangleator dovetails with this article at AlterNet.

(And yeah, Johnson and Rostow's concealment didn't help. What were they thinking?)

  3. Sadly, it reminds me of Kennedy's dealings with the Russians. Both sides of the aisle have done the same thing - and the perpetrators on both sides should face the consequences for it. Sadly, that's not about to happen.
