  4. Yeah, yeah, another wise-ass intellectual elite snark. But really. He's singing to his choir and the blond smirking behind him.
    If you want to get somewhere, you need to talk to the independents, and this sort of cleverness will turn them off. Rule of address #1: you can be smart *and* convincing; focus on that, lose the snark and talk straight. Rule of address #2: if you really, really want to make your listeners realize that the opposition are idiots, use basic, belly laugh humor. Read some Molly Ivins or Ann Richards to see it done devastatingly. They are gone, but you can pickup the banner of wily liberalism (you have to be quick and funny in the South or you're dogmeat).
