Proposition: Sen. Chris Dodd is an Idiot

Really. Why cater to the concerns of Republicans if none of them are going to vote for your bill?

On any bill whatsoever.

If the GOP is so dead-set against reforming the financial industry, let them pick that hill to die on.

  1. Here's how the negotiations should go.

Dodd: Bankers now have to wear shackles and beg for government permission to go to the bathroom.

GOP: No, bankers should be given the keys to the country and be immune to laws.

Dodd: My counter-proposal... All bankers should be jailed for life, replaced with high school chess club members, and all Republicans should have to live in abandoned radium mines. Call it a nuclear option if you want, bitches. Here it comes!

  2. Maybe it's not the GOP. Just maybe, Dodd doesn't want to give up all the cash the banks send his way.

  3. Jeff might be onto something there. My own guess (see comments) is that Dodd will need a job after leaving the Senate. His personal wealth isn't enough to guarantee he won't.
