Kangaroo Courts

"We've been asked to run these military commissions. We've been required to make sure they're fair, open, just, honest, and we're going to do that." - BGEN Thomas Hartmann.

Yeah. Tell me another. Nothing about the GITMO military commissions has been fair, honest, open or just. They have all been rigged and stacked. They are as fair and honest as a rape trial of a Black man in Mississippi in the 1920s. Any judge or prosecutor who dares to show a smidgen of independence from the outcome desired by the upper levels of the chain-of-command has been fired, reassigned, released from active duty or forced into retirement. The GITMO tribunals have been the poster children for political interference.

The GITMO tribunals are nothing but a dark and deep stain on the honor of this nation, which once prided itself on the rule of law, as a nation that did not torture people, and did none of the things that the GITMO tribunals are in the process of doing. They are the embodiment of a kangaroo court.

General Hartmann is either a skilled liar or, like Der Monkey Fuhrer, has manged to convince himself that black is white, up is down and unfair is fair.

  1. Any legal system that removes judges because judges make decisions not desired by their commanding officers cannot be confused with "fair" under any definition of the word.
