Winning In Iraq; Training Edition

The Army is so hurting for troops that Advanced Infantry Training ("AIT") is being dumbed-down to the point of near uselessness. The goal now is not to produce trained infantrymen, but to get the maximum number of soldiers into combat. And if that means that the new soldiers are not learning what they should, then that is the way it is going to be.

I know that a lot of the people on the Right think "this is all Bill Clinton's fault." Bill Clinton has been out of office for over seven years. Bush has had ample time to fix whatever needed fixing, other than maybe very long lead-time items, like ships. If the Army's training and culture needs to be reworked, Bush has had the time to do it.

He owns this problem.
