This is either another example of Chimpy's incompetence or it is an example of how his cold-hearted policies work. I don't think it is any accident that all of a sudden, applications for benefits started getting denied en masse.
This isn't a matter of a backlogged appeals system, as the article would have you believe. 2/3rds of the denials get overturned, which means that the denials are arbitrary and capricious. It means that the Social Security Administration has been ordered to deny claims in the hope that a lot of those denied would either give up or die before their appeals were heard.
It means that the Bush Administration doesn't give a fuck about people.
