Martinez Quits as RNC Chief

Mel Martinez resigned as head of the Republican National Committee after ten months on the job. He said that he is quitting because he has achieved his objectives and to spend more time with his constituents.

Yes, indeed. The best time to quit is after the ship has hit the iceberg and before it starts to take on water and sink. If he were a pilot, his checklist might read like this:

Iceberg: RAMMED

Deck Chairs: ARRANGED

Band: TUNED AND READY

Resignation: SUBMITTED
