An Alabama woman who left home to join the Islamic State group after becoming radicalized online realized she was wrong and now wants to return to the United States, a lawyer for her family said Tuesday.Providing material support to a terrorist organization, and there is little doubt that propagandizing for them qualifies, is good for a couple of decades in a Federal prison.
Hoda Muthana, 24, regrets ever aligning herself with the terrorist organization and is putting herself at risk by speaking out against it from a refugee camp where she has lived since fleeing the group a few weeks ago, said attorney Hassan Shibly.
...
After fleeing her home in suburban Birmingham in late 2014 and resurfacing in Syria, Muthana used social media to advocate violence against the United States.

COMMENT MODERATION IS IN EFFECT UFN. This means that if you are an insulting dick, nobody will ever see it.
I’m trying to understand Donnie’s Administration end game in trying to block her and declare she isn’t a U.S. citizen. Seems smarter to take her back and try her...study her for insight into radicalization...use her knowledge to improve our prevention. But the U.S. failing to learn lessons isn’t a new phenomenon in recent decades...
ReplyDeleteIs the Administration preventing her return, or just not providing free transport for her and her child? Because I seem to recall Trump telling Europe to take their citizens back.
ReplyDeleteTrump and Pompouso claim that she's not a citizen. But he's been issued a U.s. passport, twice, so I kind of doubt that they're right.
ReplyDeleteThe issue is if her father and mother were diplomats when she was born. If they were not, and since she has an American birth certificate, she's a citizen. They report they advised the State Department several months before she was born they were no longer diplomats. That was enough, as Comrade notes, to get her two U.S. passports.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, there is the question of if she has another citizenship, and the illegality (under U.S. and International law) of making her stateless.
Let her come back, be tried, serve time. She's no worse than much of the GOP, much less Putin's Puppet, who also need to face some music and reality.
