GM says that if they don't get help right the fuck now, they are toast.
While I have many qualms about bailing them out, I am really perturbed by the fact that the government, both the Administration of the Tsar of the Baboons and the Congress of the Apes is requiring the auto makers to jump through a whole series of hoops. Compare that to the way the Treasury Department is bailing out the banks; they basically call up the Treasury Department, say "we need a shitload of cash" and they get it the next day, if not sooner.
Those goniffs in the financial sector have lots of friends in Der Monkey Fuhrer's administration and that makes all the difference in the world. They are not going to let their buddies go down the drain, but they don't give a damn about people who punch timecards and get paychecks in the Midwest.
