Not Buying It

FBI agents thwarted a terror attack by a teenager on the Mall of America after monitoring him for nearly two years and ultimately supplying him with the AK-47 he planned to use, authorities said Wednesday.

The 18-year-old had been on the FBI’s radar since December 2024, when he began trading messages with a confidential informant. A criminal complaint says he initially expressed an interest in traveling to Somalia to fight for al-Shabab militants. As his plans to instead attack the mall solidified, the complaint says, agents sold him the gun and ammunition on Tuesday and arrested him on the spot
.

It seems more like the FBI's been grooming this kid for two years so they could make a splashy arrest. But that's what the FBI's been doing for decades, egging some wet-brained goofball along so they can then claim they stopped an imminent threat.

Nothing ever changes with Hoover's goon squad. Nothing.

  1. One of the things I resent the most about Fergus and his administration is when I find myself sticking up for the FBI when they screw it up. Arlo Guthrie had it right "All cops are bastards, but the FBI has a special school where they enhance their natural bastardness."
That said, FBI agents are trained for specialized law enforcement jobs, and taking them away from cartels or white collar crime to make them work on immigration and election conspiracies does in fact piss me off.
