A House Republican is pushing to ban transgender women from women’s restrooms at the US Capitol, two weeks after history was made with the election of America’s first out transgender person to Congress.
South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace on Monday introduced a resolution to amend the rules of the US House of Representatives less than two months before Democratic Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, a Delaware state senator, is sworn-in in January.
It takes a really hateful person to try to use even a bit of the power of government to go after one person in order to gain praise from the Christian Taliban.
But that's where the MAGA party lives, these days.
ETA:
It serves two purposes - mainly, it's a ploy to get in the news and get attention. Doesn't hurt to throw raw meat to the riled up Christian right. There's no hate like 'christian love'. It's going to be a rough 4+ years
ReplyDeleteGotta keep the hate focused. Fundi christians are all about control, hate is a their form of love. Hail to the cult.
ReplyDeleteMace is not sentient, its an insult to those that are.
Eck!
The funny thing is a simple approach to bathrooms like in much of Europe would solve the “issue”. The toilet is in an enclosed room, not a flimsy, partitioned space with gaps. The Seattle Airport now as a gender neutral bathroom…about 10-12 toilets, a row of sinks, and a room tucked on back with some urinals. It works just fine, a camera covering the open sink area provides deterrence and security, and if you don’t like it, there’s a couple of restrooms further down the concourse.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you visit a restroom in Europe, there’s likely a sign saying “This bathroom is cleaned by male and female staff”, and no one worries. It’s a little weird walking into the public restroom to find a woman cleaning the place, but she’s busy doing her job, not eyeing the patrons, and becomes normal almost immediately.
The newish Kansas City airport has all gender neutral bathrooms with European style toilet stalls and green and red lights to show if they are in use or not.
DeleteWhy would rethug slime do that... well if you can take basic American
ReplyDeleterights from LGBTQIA people then its easier to take rights from other
proscribed people. Then the justification is they are not us.
That's your loosing rights go, a little here and a little there. Then one
