Never Forget That Meatball Ron is the Sort of Fascist Ruler That Trump Dreams of Being
Florida is pretty much an authoritarian wasteland. Those who Ol' Shrimp Boots disagrees with are threatened with criminal prosecution. That includes people who sign petitions that he does not approve of.

COMMENT MODERATION IS IN EFFECT UFN. This means that if you are an insulting dick, nobody will ever see it.
This move by DeSantis the idiot is of course both unconstitutional and wrong. But we mustn't forget that both John Kerry and Hillary Clinton have expressed stopping free speech, or what they like to term misinformation. Or the ever popular phrase "hate speech" which seems to be anything said that someone in power doesn't like.
ReplyDeleteHave either of them threatened a broadcast outlet with criminal action? Have either of them sent cops to question people who signed a petition?
DeleteMy conclusion is that I think you are stretching it to come up with some examples of bothsiderism.
Saying "Both sides do it" is similar to the argument that since Hillary Clinton complained for years after losing the presidential election that there might be a bit of funny business that went on is the same as Trump never conceding and still encouraging his faithful to be prepared to "Stand back and stand by."
ReplyDeleteComrade Misfit, I have seen where the current DOJ has made late night raids on people accused of blocking abortion clinics, with a huge SWAT show of force, when a simple phone call would have gotten the man to show up at police headquarters, instead of terrorizing his family.
ReplyDeleteI have seen where the ATF has taken rights from people by taking the FFL's away from those who had a paperwork violation, where it used to be just a warning. These have taken place under the current Biden administration, who has been no friend of our freedom.
Also Clinton and Kerry are both seeking to take 1st amendment rights away from people. That to me is not merely a stretch but a direct comparison to the government's attempt to take over all areas of our lives. My point is that both sides are indeed guilty.
Evidence of such raids, please.
DeleteAnd not from batshit right-wing websites, please. Something with a shred of objectivity.
DeleteThis one might work. https://www.yahoo.com/news/pro-life-activist-arrested-swat-171717669.html
ReplyDeleteYahoo is an aggregator site. I followed the links back and basically, some pro-life group is saying "this happened" and there is no confirmation that it happened the way they claim it did.
DeleteThere are other sites posting the same information.
ReplyDeletePerhaps this satisfies your requirement of more firsthand information. If not then I am at a loss as to what I might find that would show this did happen. And also, Mr. Houck was acquitted of charges in late January of 2023.

OK, so you've got one arrest allegedly perpetrated by an overzealous ADA. One. That's your counter to DeSantis sending his election cops to interrogate people who signed a petition? That's your counter to threats by Florida officials to prosecute TV stations for running political ads?
DeleteThat's taking "bothsiderism" to the breaking point.
