Affluenza Still At Work

A Southern California socialite was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in prison for the hit-and-run deaths of two young brothers in a crosswalk more than three years ago.

Authorities said Rebecca Grossman, wife of a prominent Los Angeles burn doctor, fatally struck Mark Iskander, 11, and brother Jacob, 8, while speeding.

A Los Angeles jury in February found Rebecca Grossman guilty on all counts: Two felony counts each of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter, and one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death.

Superior Court Judge Joseph Brandolino sentenced her to two concurrent 15-years-to-life sentences, plus three years for fleeing the scene of the fatal crash that would run concurrently with the two other sentences, the Los Angeles Times reported.

15 years to life is the minimum sentence for second degree murder in California, according to a quick Goggle search. I'll bet that if some non-rich young male was racing his buddy and drove through two kids in a crosswalk, that the kid would get sent away for a hell of a lot longer. Still, Grossman thought she should get probation and, despite being convicted of two counts of second-degree murderer, she wasn't a murderer. Because she's a good person, even though she ran down and killed two kids and spent four years not only denying that she did so, but blaming everyone else, including the children's parents, for their deaths.

I gather that early parole isn't possible in California for those convicted of murder. Care to bet as to whether or not some leverage will be pulled in order to get her out of stir well before 2039?

  1. Still its 18 years two 15 concurrent and 3 more years for
    the hit and run.

What will make the difference is if she serves the 15. At age 60
time is not on your side. We shall see.

    Eck!

  2. No, it's all concurrent. 15 to life. Probably a lot less actual time served.
