Two Just Stop Oil protesters have smashed the glass around Magna Carta at the British Library.
The Rev Sue Parfitt, 82, and Judy Bruce, 85, a retired biology teacher, targeted the protective enclosure with a hammer and chisel on Friday morning.
Just Stop Oil said the pair then held up a sign reading “The government is breaking the law” and glued themselves to the display.
Right. Two old women are going to jump-start a discussion about climate change by vandalizing a museum display? In what addle-pated mind does that make an iota of sense?
Boyd Worsham once said - don't sweat the small shit. The big enchilada is in November.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a cage match between Maslow's hierarchy and the 13 keys https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Keys_to_the_White_House and Biden is fixing to lose.

On December 16, 1773, a somewhat similar, "futile" protest occurred. Now, granted that the situation and actions were different, the point was, on the whole, the same...bring about change.
ReplyDeleteBy the same token, the campus protests are badly underestimated by many simply because there is both a cadre of troublemakers and infiltrators involved. The main body is simply about seeing killing, on both sides, stopped, but a small minority have hijacked this for their purposes. Note the doxxing of involved students by a group funded by billionaires and corporations, many of whom also have questionable ties to various unsavory antisemitic types.
I suspect this is very much the 60's again, and the results may well be similar due to Bibi's instringent insistence on continuing to destroy a shadow. He can't do it, and his efforts to do it are simply making more implacable enemies for Israel. In the end, Bibi may well have taken Israelis best chance for normalization in the region and pissed it away to their detriment.
