Icon Aircraft, which first delivered the amphibious light sport A5 in the summer of 2016, petitioned for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware, where the company headquartered in California (with facilities in Florida and Tijuana, Mexico) is incorporated, on April 4.
Vans Aircraft went bankrupt last December. And, of course, Mooney Aircraft has filed for bankruptcy more times than Donald Trump's companies.
It's a tough way to make a buck.
A lot of the failed companies pandered to the so called light
ReplyDeletesport market that had some neat designs that were slow and
short ranged. It was supposed to build the lightplane market
but most cost more than a used C150 or Cherokee.
Putting electronics or ADSB-out is costly if you even
had a battery to power it.
