"The hardliners on the right have done nothing except make it worse. The Freedom Caucus right now has been a disaster in public policy terms. They think their job in life is to grandstand and complain while the other team runs over you."
That, of course, is good old Newtie Gingrich. He was the architect of stupid-ass government shutdowns that did nothing. He was the leader of changing the Congress from a legislative body where people on both sides of the aisle worked together on what they could and basically treated each other like professionals to one where the members go on Radio Rwanda and Faux News to hate-talk about the other side.
The so-called Freedom Caucus is what Gingrich's party has devolved to.
So it's pretty fucking rich that he's now carping about what his creation has done.
Whenever someone like Newt pops up, I am forced to remember they’re not dead.
ReplyDeleteGingrich shut down the government because he felt that the President had slighted him.
Kissinger was another one the grim reaper let wander far too long, IMHO.
Agent Orange said we wouldn’t see him again, and he still hasn’t gone away.
I wouldn’t mind as much if they stayed out of the news until they are pushing up daisies, but they just can’t help themselves.
The billionaire's lament?
ReplyDeleteOops, My Bad: Charles Koch Says He Regrets Dividing the Country, but Not Enough to Stop Funneling Shit Tons of Money to Republicans

Mr. Jones, Charles Koch regrets diving the country the same way sellers of beer and hot dogs at an athletic stadium regrets charging so much for their product. The same way a casino says says sorry you lost your rent money, but come back when you raise some more.
ReplyDeleteThe facts (1) that no one tore Newt Gingrich flesh from bone decades ago, and (2) that the bones would have been buried even if they had, tell you everything you need to know about humanity. It is not only doomed, it is already dead. If you have no standards that you are willing to enforce, you do not exist.
ReplyDeleteWhile the chickens are coming home to roost so to speak, and we have the means to finally pound a stake into the "freedom caucus" ( a stake they've shaped and sharpened and handed to us) lets remember we aren't "there" yet. There is still 6-8 months of pearl clutching, adopting seriously concerned looks and remembering that the case must be sanded and shaped and varnished before we present it. And don't forget the MSM. #1 They are gonna make a shit ton of money this year, and fingers crossed, Donald Trump gets reelected they're gonna print even more for the next 4-6 years.
ReplyDelete#2 Time to hire a few Trump friendly faces to level the playing field. with Ronna onboard at NBC, Maybe ABC can hire Kelly Ann. Those broadcast licenses are pretty nice. be a shame if anything happened to them. This time next year we might see Chuck Todd on Newsmax and Kristine Welker on OAN. and on the bright side, we'll be too busy with concerned citizens committees along with their militia escorts coming into our homes. Just to look around, take a look at our phones drop off some Presidential support lawn signs, ask which church we go to so they can check attendance......
Newt the fruit is my pick for WalMart greeter on the repurposed oil tanker that carries them all away to Russia, stripped of everything (he can keep his blowup doll)
ReplyDeleteOn a serious note: that one time I couldn't raise bail? That's it: one time I couldn't raise bail, learned how to stand on my head. I got it halved half-way through by finishing it out in alcohol treatment, and that I went on to graduate the university with honors is moot in the generally accepted vernacular, it was time lost. It was a cost
At this point in time if he can't post his bail he needs to be in jail
Otherwise it's time to clean the grease out of what's buried 'neath the barn
Newt abandoned his wife and kids.Left them without even the money to put food on the table. She had to get help from the church.I saw their pastor tell the story.
ReplyDeleteIt’s the law of unintended consequences at its finest. Much like the current argument on medication abortions via the mail features doctors with little to no connection suing…what’s next? By the arguments being advanced in the SCotUS today, any doctor could sue Federal Agencies for failing to control guns and ammunition they say are responsible for wounds that they themselves either never or seldom treat…just saying, be careful what you ask for, because once Pandora’s Box is open…
