Your Sunday Morning Jet Noise

The de Havilland Vampire.

Regular readers of this blog know what's in store tonight.

  1. Reminds me of the Vampire that Bob Stek of Jet Avaiation had
at Manchester Airport NH. That was over 25 years ago, pretty
bird and he flew it a lot.

Best part is I've seen it during maintenance cycles and flying
as well as talking with him. His words were "moderately fast
and high maintenance" and "its why I sell fuel as it really
    eats it".

    Eck!

  2. Centrifugal compressors, along with the humpbacked cananular burners are why it's such and odd fuselage. And they were always gas hogs, in addition to being VERY high pitched! But kudos to them for being one of the first to actually produce a flyable jet fighter!
