I Have a Lot of Problems With You People, and Now You're Gonna Hear All About It!
Festivus is today. But when it comes to some topics, the pole is up year round, here.
Truth be told, I don't have a lot of problems with folks on this blog. I did have to put on full-time comment moderatinn a few years ago to rein in the most active bomb-throwers and those who believe that personal invective is an adequate substitute for reason. They'd kick off a mini-flamewar before I came by with the extinguisher. Most of them have gotten the hint and gone off to haunt other lightly-used corners of the Internet, but a few persisten morons keep trying.
Which is funny, in a way. The ones who have made it to the Banhammer List, well, I don't read their stuff. I see their name in the list of comments and delete them. So I hope they're writing long screeds and wasting their time yelling into a vacuum. (But don't worry. Elsewhere, a copy is saved in case po-po involvement is called for.)
In the meantime, Operation Cleanup is underway for Monday's shindig and Festival of Keeping the Retail Industry Afloat.
Speaking of that, every year, I hear the conservatives whining about "keeping Christ in Christmas". I'd be more impressed if they didn't, as the Pope has mentioned, limit their Christianity to matters between the navel and the knees. It doesn't take much to see that it's a safe bet that Jesus would be horrified by most of his self-styled adherents, who use his name to justify greed, unkindness and killing.
So yes, I have a problem with them.

COMMENT MODERATION IS IN EFFECT UFN. This means that if you are an insulting dick, nobody will ever see it.
My thoughts on Xians exactly. We dodged the bullet this year, as the better 2/3rds family let us off the hook. It's about a 2.5 hour drive to their compound and they were perfectly OK if we didn't come this year. That's such a long drive and we (meaning me) probably wouldn't enjoy it because it's all about Jesus this year. Happy holiday's to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteAnd a feisty Festivus to you, Comrades! I'm glad you removed the assholes, and thank you for not issuing me a yellow card when I got sucked into a shouting match.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your insightful postings and stop by most days, so I thank you for your efforts. You have now been seasonally greeted!
Happy Holidays Comrade. I hope you can enjoy the day of festivities in comfort. All the Best from California. And yes, thanks for banning the real nuts and still allowing crazies like me to comment.

Yea, Happy Holidays to all! I’m absolved of any stuff due to a crazy now ex gonna be at the gathering and everyone is fine with me staying away to keep the crazy a wee bit calmer…win/win. As for the rest, while my local school board has gone full Christian Nationalist, an adjacent district actually started the winter break late (Dec 20-Jan 7) so that it covered both “Christmas” and Coptic Christmas (Jan 7th)…nice to see rationality and respect out there, there is a decent sized Coptic community in the district.
ReplyDeleteFestivus day, may it be loud and contentious.
ReplyDeleteThank you Seinfeld and company.
Eck!
Let civility and Happy Holidays be the guide Comrade. Pop some champagne and "crackers" on the festival days and enjoy good company.
ReplyDeleteThankfully only two close by visits to make this year.
Thanks for doing the hard work this last year informing us and providing a safe place to vent on occasion.
Be of good cheer and enjoy a respite from the chaos.
