Conservatives' Bullying Isn't Working, This Time

To win over his GOP colleagues, Jordan had relied on backing from Trump, the party’s front-runner in the 2024 election to challenge President Joe Biden, and groups pressuring rank-and-file lawmakers for the vote. But they were not enough and in fact backfired on some.

“One thing I cannot stomach or support is a bully,” said a statement from Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, who voted against Jordan on the second ballot and said she received “credible death threats and a barrage of threatening calls.”

Bullying and threats of violence have been a staple of the far-right since before they paraded around with guns when national health insurance was on the table fourteen years ago, up through the 2020 campaign and the aftermath of the Turmpist failed coup. It's no surprise that those clowns incorporate elements of a thug crime family and terrorism in their politicking.

The surprise is that, this time, it seems to not be working.

  1. Bullying. Are you referring to Ms. Lake saying, “ If you want to get to President Trump, you’re going to have to go through me, and you’re going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me. And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the NRA. That’s not a threat, that’s a public service announcement.”

Sounds like a threat to me.

Also, what makes these right wing nuts think that there aren’t card carrying members that want Trump prosecuted? They proclaim to be pro-police, law and order types, but are reluctant to accept that any wrong doing has occurred. Claims of a peaceful tour of the Capitol just don’t hold water. What we saw on live tv was real, but the right denies it just like they deny the election.

Which brings up Ms. Powell who suddenly is singing a different tune after her plea agreement.

A couple more questions, if you please. Why does the right always make the claim “the 75 million who voted for Trump”, meanwhile ignoring the 82 million who voted for Biden? If they actually believe in democracy, why don’t they accept the results of the election? And if they claim fraudulent Biden votes and the election was ‘stolen’, what makes them so sure that the ‘stolen election’ didn’t include fraudulent Trump votes?

Rhetorical, i know, but reasonable questions to present to irrational people. Not really expecting any logical response.

  2. There is no rational response, Dale. It's a cult.

  3. Not so much fun when it's pointed at you, is it GOP?

  4. DTWND, the reason that they don't mention Biden's 82 million votes is because "they cheated, the ballots were bamboo, 5 million illegals were bused in to vote for biden, Mail in votes were counted after Trump said he was ahead, ballot boxes had ballots in them and 'math is hard'" Also here in Michigan the camo wearing, open carrying G.I. Joe cosplayers paraded around the Capitol to act tough because they didn't want to wear a mask during a pandemic. "I can't breathe."
