Here is what I believe will happen over the next several years:
Every identifiable leader of Hamas, military, political or otherwise, will be killed by the Israeli spooks. Whether it is by Shin Bet, Mossad, the IDF, everyone that can be identified, regardless of where they are, regardless of how long it takes, will be hunted down and killed.
Two pieces of advice for those who are related to such people:
- Buy life insurance on them, and
- Never get into a car with them.

It is entirely possible this is correct, but the Israeli side probably needs to watch out too. The politicians who called for the destruction will likely be targeted in some manner, and while their attackers won’t have the muscle of a State behind them, the increases in technology make the defending of a high value target a more difficult proposition. The defenders have to get it right 100% of the time, the attackers potentially only need once…and it’s now easier than ever.
ReplyDeleteWhen the IRA went on bombing campaigns, the bombs were works of art, so to speak, crafted by one of a few specialists…since the rise of Islamic Militants and the Internet, the means of making IED’s and improvised weapons are now readily available all. How far down the leadership chain can you afford to protect, and how well? The same question applies to Hamas and Israel, and while the techniques and resources are vastly different, the concerns are very similar.
