Because It's Friday

One of those huge-ass, insanely-long frieght trains got stuck on a grade in Nebraska.

  1. AS far as I know 4014 has done this several times before.
Another case was a stalled double stack consist going up
one of the more famous hills. I think they lost an engine
and 4014 was on the track and was given the dispatch to push.

Blair Hill back in 2019 was such a case but there were others.

It easy to forget the Big Boys were designed to haul large
consists over the terrain back when to supplant the dual
and triple 484s that were in use. If I have it right it
was also used when being relocated to haul revenue freight
    loads.

    Eck!

  3. There have been proposals in Congress to do something to stop the railroads from blocking grade crossings for hours or days. But their pet senators ensure that nothing ever comes to fruition.

  4. 4014 uses 200 gallons of water and burns 20 gallons of recycled motor oil per mile. Probably not at the start, but Big Boy was moving 550 tons per mile per gallon of oil,
