In an extraordinary act of political retaliation, Tennessee Republicans on Thursday expelled two Democratic lawmakers from the state Legislature for their role in a protest calling for more gun control in the aftermath of a deadly school shootingin Nashville. A third Democrat was narrowly spared by a one-vote margin. The split votes drew accusations of racism, with lawmakers ousting Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson, who are both Black, while Rep. Gloria Johnson, who is white, survived the vote on her expulsion. Republican leadership denied that race was a factor, however.
Fire the Black guys and keep the white chick, sure, that's not racist at all.
They had to rush through the voting, for their wives had already ironed their robes for the after-session cross-burning.
That just needed an excuse for getting rid of the "scary black men". Kind of like the broken taillight excuse.
ReplyDeleteThis can't be legal, is all I have to say. I'm waiting for the suit, win, apology, and reinstatement, along with a large monetary award. Fascist SOBs.

I'd be interested in how many black representatives voted them out before I bought your story of racism.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't always racism when black people are punished for their actions. Especially black radicals who seem to know no boundaries.
You raised the question, B, you answer it.
ReplyDeleteBut go ahead, defend a state where a GOP/Trumpy legislator wanted to bring back lynching until that predictably blew up in his face.
The answer, B., is zero. But, of course, this is also the same State where the Legislature has underfunded the HBCU’s in the state of Tennessee by an estimated $12.8 Billion since 1892.
ReplyDeleteHey B, is what the "black radicals who seem to know no boundaries" did worse than the TN GOP state rep that essentially admitted to sexual misconduct with a 14-year old? Rep. David Byrd (google him) wasn't expelled from the House. He wasn't even stripped of committee assignments. Of course he was white and republican.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with the two young democrats being punished for breaking the rules, but it seems the TN GOP is a little inconsistent when it comes to punishment.
If the inconsistency is not racism, tell me what it is.
