The Leaker

It seems that the WaPo, at least, has a good idea who the leaker is. My guess he'll be sporting FBI-issue bracelets within a week, if he doesn't do a runner or caps himself.

  1. By all accounts I've seen so far this morning somebody knows.

The whole thing stinks like like a psyop, someone salting the mine. Again by all accounts I've read so far that stuff wasn't/isn't necessarily all that sensitive, most of it dated and some advantageous not to the opposition. And then there's the matter of how, and where it was leaked ~ to a channel a known conduit for pipelining conspiracy theories into your mainstream multi-millionaire media. This stinks like a diversion ...

  3. The NYT is reporting (3:15PM) the FBI have arrested an ANG airman in connection with the classified leaks.

  4. Yes, I grossly overestimated the time it would take to arrest him. What I heard on the radio was that the FBI had information other than that the WaPo had.

There's undoubtedly a cell waiting for him at ADX Florence.

  5. Fucking 21-year old kid. Each document he stole may be a separate charge. My unsupported guess is that he will never breathe free air again.

  6. Why couldn't it have been for money,or blackmail or any other comprehensible motive?JFC, if it turns out that it was to impress his underage buds on some gamer channel, I may have to hit my doctor up for antidepressants.

  7. Story I read was they had been surveilling for several days, and wanted to arrest him outside either his father or mothers house, as he was believed to own a lot of weapons.

  8. Forgot to add, let trade him to the Russians….wait, they only trade for their own.

  9. OSINT doesn't get any better than this
However, Bellingcat has seen evidence that some documents dated to January could have been posted online even earlier, although it is unclear exactly when. Bellingcat also spoke to three members of the Discord community where the images had been posted who claimed that many more documents had been shared across other Discord servers in recent months.

  10. Mia culpa ~ it's the pollen, my nose is all stuffed up.

Though it is kind of mind-blowing a 21 year old kid with limited intellect, less education and no practical experience has access to those kind of materials. It is possible he's just the piano player, has no idea what goes on upstairs.

    I don't think this is over ...
