A customer at Ranchito Taqueria shot and killed a man who robbed the restaurant in southwest Houston late Thursday night, according to the Houston Police Department.
It happened just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the restaurant on S. Gessner near Bellaire Boulevard.
Houston police said the armed man in a mask came inside the restaurant, demanding money and wallets from customers. However, as he was leaving, one of those customers shot the suspect.
The customer left, likely because he discovered that the perp's gun was fake (BB gun or Airsoft). Which, of course, he had no way of knowing at the time.
Bet that there will be stories about how the Dead Perp was on the cusp of turning his life around and wanted to do the robbery to get some money for his mother before he entered the seminary.
Ok. I wrang my hands. I done wrung 'em. But what is your point? I am still one of many citizens that want actual gun laws. I want money for education. I want help for old people and sick people etc, etc. You think you can do this with a gun? You think a libertarian attitude has answers? I will be 65 yrs in March and so far i have survived without guns.
ReplyDeleteRichard, what we have, here, is a young punk who opted to get money by armed robbery. I don't believe the solution is to make it harder for victims to defend themselves.
ReplyDeleteIn most states, I suspect that the customer would go to prison for continuing to shoot the guy after he was down. But the rules might be different in Texas,
Robbing a taco stand in Texas is about like robbing a cop bar in the Bronx ...
ReplyDeleteHe did the needful thing.
ReplyDeleteAs an elder I understand only one thing, the average punk can
wipe the streets with me, age has its cost.
However Colt, Glock, or whatever makes that not as easy for
the perp. Self defense is a right. I've survived without a
sidearm for more years than that, but there was that one
moment I had a rifle handy. Its presence was enough to
make his plan with a bat take a pause and retreat.
If you wish to donate treasure to the perp in the hope he
doesn't hurt you its your right. I'd rather bet on a
roulette wheel.
However giving perps like that Osha grade protection at
a cost to friend or family is epic grade liberal stupidity.
Eck!
I’ve got no problem with what the customer did, but it’s going to be harder for him to defend, shooting him in the back as he was leaving.
ReplyDeleteirie, actually not. In Texas, at night, it is lawful to shot a criminal leaving if you fear you will be unable to recover the property he is taking. The customer’s lawyer is in contact with police about a meeting, at this time no charges are anticipated.
ReplyDeleteWise of him to lawyer up, indeed.
