Garland Bows to the Inevitable

Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday appointed a special counsel to investigate the presence of classified documents found at President Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, and at an unsecured office in Washington dating from his time as vice president.

The similarity between the cases of Biden and the Asset: Both had classified documents in unsecured locations.

The differences:
  • Biden's people went looking for the documents.  The Asset's didn't.
  • Biden's people reported the presence of documents. The Asset didn't.
  • The Asset claimed that the documents were his.  Biden didn't.
  • The Asset claimed that he had declassified the documents with his mind. Biden didn't.
  • The Biden team turned over every document they found. The Asset's people didn't.
  • The Asset had his lawyers lie about the presence of documents. Biden's didn't.
  • The Asset turned over some documents after being subpoena'd. As for Biden, see two points up.
  • It took a search warrant to get more documents from the Asset.  As for Biden, see three points up.
  • Biden has cooperated at every turn. Not so for the Asset.
But the Trump loyalists don't see any differences. Because they are willfully blind or are idiots.

idiots don't understand that the VICE president doesn't have the authority to declassify anything. period. THAT'S the difference

  2. So, you’re standing by the TOFF’s claim that he can declassify documents merely by thinking about it?

(Also, Biden’s been president for almost two years, which negates your point somewhat.)

  3. CM made the unfair comparison distinctions of critical thinking that have gone missing in this country https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AXyeKbw3tU

Can you refute any of the distinctions is the question on the table?

  4. Trump know where his document were, Biden left his unsecured for YEARS.
But don't let the DNC narrative blind you from the truth my dear. Don't believe everything they tell you.
Your partisanship shows. It undermines what very little credibility you have left.
Dance all you wish. Your OUTRAGE! at Trump isn't mirrored in the outrage you fail to show for essentially the same issue (possibly worse because Biden didn't even know he had left those documents lying around...). If you can't see that, then I am sad for you. No matter what excuses you use.
    Double Standards and all that.

  5. Oh, they see the differences, they just want to muddy the waters of Fergus' investigation.

  7. If standards are good, double standards must be twice as good.

  8. Good explanation of the differences in having classified documents which neither seem to have had the right to have had in their possession. But you can lead a TFG-Q supporter to water but you can't make him drink. He will still back into the water and befoul the water instead.

  9. B, I do not know how you manage to pack so much condescension into a few sentences. You definitely are have a fifth degree black belt in White Male Arrogance.

Who appointed you the referee of what is fair and equitable? Who the fuck do you think you are to decide whether or not I am credible?

But hey, at least you have conceded that Trump knew that he had classified documents and that he was trying to conceal them from the National Archives and the FBI. I guess that's progress, of a sort. So, by your own admission, he's guilty of lying to the DoJ and obstruction of justice.

  10. Thank you for putting B in his place. As I read his comment my blood pressure spiked. He is the poster child of cognitive dissonance.

  11. B., love the admission of several crimes by Trump from you. Having had to follow the same rules as the President, I know that willfully taking those documents is a huge violation, well over a mishandling and accidental failure to return some.

  12. b,

biden bad, biden bad, baa baa! When will you think for your self
and switch from the koolaid to maybe coffee.

    You proved the comment.

All I saw was trash, then admission that the Asset did really
have stuff he shouldn't and not a little and apparently some
is still missing. Also newsflash without process he cannot
declassify anything and a former president.

    So much noise.

    Eck!

  14. Lost in the hoopla ~ apparently Special Investigator Smith dropped a bunch of subpoenas on the inner-most of the Asset's crew, all the stars. Shiny thing, even distracted me.

That rumble off in the distance, sea, like thunder on dogs' ears; like the tide coming in but it's going out, the baritone in Ripple ...

  15. Hey, your Double Standards indicate that at least you have standards...

In fact, you have twice as many as the rest of us!

Biden was unaware that he had mishandled the documents. He didn't even know he had them.
'Twas only when they were cleaning out an office (where the classified documents had been unsecured for nearly 6 years) that they even discovered that they were there. No one "Went looking for them" until the first batch was found///by accident. (And, oddly enough, thee first batch was all related to Ukraine and the interactions of the energy sector...where Hunter made his millions (plus the 10% for the "Big Guy"))
'Tis also funny how you feel you can judge others actions, and condescend to them, , but when someone judges you, well, that is different and wrong. Sad, but kinda funny.

  16. I have seen no credible reports, B, that the documents had anything to do with Ukraine. Only bullshit and smoke from conspiracy-theory and wingnut websites.

Speaking of double standards, I see no heartburn on your part that the son-in-law of Trump was given two billion (with a "b") dollars by the Saudis with no strings attached.

So yes, it's pretty sad that you can drink the Right Wing Kool-Aid of Lies and then feel that you have the ability to judge other people.

You don't. At least not here. You have a blog, you are free to express your condescension there.

As I recall, this is exactly how you treat/treated most anyone with an opposing viewpoint on your blog. Double standards? Just saying.

To the point of the post and discussion, FBI raided Mar-A-Lago because Trump and team haven't cooperated. So far, all appearances suggest that Biden and his team are cooperating. Thus no raid. Both are under investigation--only difference is Trump's investigation is further along. Presently, no one has been charged.

Not sure what you're whining about B.

    Pete
