Times Change

December, 1941: "I'm going to enlist to fight for freedom!"

October, 2022: "I'm going to vote for the fascistic election deniers because lower gas prices are more important than freedom!"

  1. It would be nice if the President controlled the price of gasoline. I expect that in an election year he would majorly lower the price. I see Joe Biden as a good guy and I expect he'd lower it just for the help it would be to all of us and not just for reelection.
Unfortunately, he doesn't have any control over the price of gas and there isn't much of anything he can do.
I sure wish that could be made clear to the voting public.

  2. It's not like the President has done nothing, but the levers he can pull are not very long. None the less, it's nice to get some help. And since I get free coffee all day at work, I gave up my latte habit 2 years ago and it pays for my weekly gas needs.

I'd sell my paid off 13 year old SUV, but that wouldn't even cover a down payment for an electric car and I don't need or want a car payment at my delicate age.

It's back to retirement at the end of the year when my work contract expires, but I may be able to get my hobby business off the ground and save up to buy a vehicle that runs via electrons.

The voting public that watches Fox or Newsmax all day long have no clarity on issues we face. They tend to be incurious and can't break out of the loop long enough to see reality.

They breath the same forest fire smoke we do, get hammered by hurricanes as we do, face life threatening medical events as we do, watch their finances get pummeled as we do, watch our rights get stripped by an alt right SC, but the difference is we want to lift all of us to a better place. They just want a White America and the demographic change they see coming (a multicultural America) scares the shit out of them.

  3. The price of gas isn't going to come down. Some of the refinery capacity that went offline in 2020 is never coming back. It's the economy stupid and the first layer of Maslow's hierarchy.

  4. Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
    Franklin.

Nor will they get low fuel prices, climate change abatement, democracy and a host of other trifles. They live in a fantasy land of the Right and have the strength of ten because their hearts are pure...and they mainline Fox News.

  5. In 2008 when gasoline was $4.00+ a gallon the Republicans cried it wasn't George Bush's fault it was someone else's fault. Gas goes up under Biden and they push the narrative that the president can control the price of fuel. The same people that believed the first also believe the latter. But they can also believe that Biden is a senile, incompetent old man but is also so clever and diabolical he can steal an election without leaving any evidence of his misdeeds.
