Donald Trump’s private company arranged for the Secret Service to pay for rooms at his properties in excess of government-approved rates at least 40 times during his presidency, including two charges for more than $1,100 per night, according to documents released Monday by a congressional committee.
The Secret Service was charged room rates of more than $800 per night at least 11 times when agents stayed at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, the Trump hotel in Washington, D.C., and other properties, the Democratic-led House Oversight Committee said. It noted that Trump made over 500 trips to his properties while president.
This isn't exactly a new story, there has been reporting that the Asset was overcharging the Secret Serive for a long time.
Each time, Cadet Bone Spurs sends out his Dim Son to deny (as opposed to Coke Boy). Which persuades nobody.
Whataboutism, I know...https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-charges-secret-service-to-rent-cottage-next-to-his-home
ReplyDeleteBut comparable. Where were you then?
Oh, yeah, double standards. Anyone But Trump or a Republican gets a pass.
B, not comparable. TOFF was charging sextuple the GSA-approved rate.
ReplyDeleteN.B.: To the homophobic troll who tried to make a comment: Congratulations! You’ve made the Banhammer List. Go darken some other blog’s doorway.
Let's do the math. $2200 per month divided by 30 days equals $73 per day. WOW! That's cheaper than Wyndham or Marriot rates. AND you get and entire cottage, not just a bedroom and bathroom. And you called it "comparable"?
ReplyDeleteFor someone who makes the assertion that they're good at understanding statistics, that's a pretty weak argument. Cause $880 per day is a lot more than $73 per day. Just sayin'.
Next, you'll say the 2020 election was stolen. You're a riot.

On the few times I had to travel when working for the Govt, I’m pretty sure I would only be allowed to book a room at the GSA approved rate. Not for over the rate, definitely not for 6X the rate. How was this allowed?
ReplyDeleteB, try being original and at least once defend your side without whataboutism. If you saw a picture of a Trump clearly eating and enjoying human flesh, you would point to a picture of Biden eating medium-rare steak to proclaim “both sides are the same.”
ReplyDeleteAlso, given the times you couldn’t be bothered to vet Fox News and the resulting embarrassment that follows, you might want to consider using other, more neutral sources in the future.
b,
ReplyDeleteOnce again whataboutism. You did not defend anything and if
anything made the point of what is fair and equitable or outright
gouging. However knowing who you picked for source and the approach
its exactly not what you apparently intended.
These days $2200/Month is pretty good. Over $800/Night is $24,000
for a month. By my book that premium digs and more than many pay
a year for their mortgage!
So in the end you were not smart or even clever. You proved the
price was exorbitantly high and gouging the government who you
pay taxes to.
Eck!
The $2200 figure comes from his time as VP. He does not charge as president.
ReplyDeleteY'all miss my point. At the time, Biden gouged his secret service as well (think about inflation for a comparison to the costs before you bloviate about the difference). Yet no one said anything when Biden did it. Funny how y'all work. If you held your heroes to the same standards at Trump then things would be different. But you don't. Which shows your level of integrity.
ReplyDeleteB, the fact that you seem to approve of Trump gouging the taxpayers tells me all I need to know regarding your integrity.
ReplyDeleteIt’s clear that if Trump killed a hooker, you and the rest of his supporters would be saying: “What about the time Biden undertipped a waitress?!?”
You are so wrong on many points.
ReplyDelete1) You're citing an article from 2015. I, for one, (and I assume many of the frequent posters here) don't watch Fox 'News' and were not aware of the story from back then. You must have had to really reach to find that 'dirt'.
2) A Google search on GSA per diem rates for 2015 in Delaware shows that the $73 charged is lower than allowed for the three largest cities in the state during that time. Your claim of gouging doesn't hold water.

3) The $73 in 2015 equates to $91.22 in 2022 due to inflation. Still much less exorbitant than what your orange god had charged.
4) Your stance and whataboutism indicates that you approve of Trump's charges to the government for his own benefit. Yet you try to spin it as a point against Biden. You're being a hypocrite.
We get that you love all things T***p. But you are like a horse with blinders on, only seeing things from one point of view. At any criticism of his orangeness you see red and feel the need to fire back at Biden. Sadly, your act is getting old.
I'll end with a paraphrase from yourself: Biden won, get over it.
