House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said that if Republicans win control of the House that the GOP will use raising the debt limit as leverage to force spending cuts - which could include cuts to Medicare and Social Security...
McCarthy is not the first Republican to say he is open to changes in the entitlement programs. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has suggested that Social Security and Medicare be eliminated as federal entitlement programs, and that they should instead become programs approved by Congress on an annual basis as discretionary spending.
Republicans have been trying to eliminate Social Security and force lower-income senors to either work until they die or go to the poorhouses for nearly the last ninety years. They hate, hate, the idea of government doing anything to help anyone other than corporations and the rich.
Republicans are just nasty people. If there was an injured dog on the side of the road, Republicans would swerve to run it over. They would gleefully strew marbles in the path of a blind person. If a cat was up in a tree, Republicans would shoot it.
They are the party of greed, of authoritarianism, and a party that completely lacks humanity.
They have not changed since Hoover sent the army to bust up an encampment of poverty-stricken veterans of the Great War.
But. They. Are. !!NOT!! Fucking. Entitlements. They are trusts we all paid into, that we have coming to us (in a laughingly described as Golden Years), and that are not to be turned into a mess of pottage. Yes, you know that, I know that, but these custard-headed conmen keep trotting this fraud out. hoping to bilk America into surrendering it to Wall Street flim-flam. Like Medicare "Advantage".
ReplyDeleteWell, they finally gotten around to hosing us white folk, like they've done for years to the indigenous people and BIPOCs.
Screw that shit. When you pay in for 50 years there is
ReplyDeletethe expectation of getting it back with interest.
Short form, I'm entitled to my money, it wasn't a
free gimme.
GQP, eat dirt and die.
Eck!
you must convince the sheep it is an entitlement - just keep repeating it until it is the truth...
ReplyDeletethe over 50 crowd will generally be grandfathered in. we know how they vote. just another way to rob the youth of their future?
ReplyDeleteIn a sane world, disrupting the income and health care of the senior population would be a death stroke for a political party. There are more than a few of us out here after all, and we vote.
ReplyDeleteThe up-is-down GQP has somehow convinced its seniors that cutting them off is OK, and I don't know how you do that.
All I can say is they better not win or at the last minute decide to not kill all of us off.
It's getting dark out there.
