The first few pages reveal the depth of Russian arrogance and stupidity:

How operationally stupid does one have to be to discuss, in the clear, an impending operation against an adversary that is roughly equivalent in technology and weaponry? That's the mindset of an army that is used to fighting in colonial wars.[1} Russian soldiers weren't told that they were going to war, they thought that they were participating in an excersize, so when they came under hostile fire and began taking casualties, they fell apart.
