Place Your Bets, Ladies and Gentlemen; ISS Ed.

Anyone feel like speculating as to how long it will be before the ISS is de-orbited as an effective casualty of Putin's European War?

John McCain was right about the folly of buying Russian rocket engines.

  1. Seems SpaceX was double clever..

Learn to make your own engines, with improvements. Then don't
throw them away every time you launch. That solves the supply
issues and the flow of money. They have a supply. Reuse has
    its virtues.

As to the ISS, we have transport and supply solved so Russians
and their aging systems (Launch capability, capsules) are not
required. specifically we are not locked into them like we were
during the gap between shuttle and Spacex. I Boeing ever gets
it in gear we have two.

    Eck!

  2. I'm unsure of the value of it at this time. It is old and troubled and it seems that the science up there could be done remotely at lower cost in money and astronaut health. Apparently any lengthy stay severely degrades health, as shown by the twins' flights. Is it still useful or just a prestige thing?
