Appeasers and Quislings
There is no shortage of American "conservatives" who are backing Putin.
Funny thing about those clowns: They denounce Trudeau for breaking up an occupation of Canada's capital by a bunch of obnoxious assholes, but they are fine with Putin invading a neighboring country and they are sympathetic to Putin's claim that Ukraine was once part of the Russian Empire and should so be again.
Maybe they should look at a map before approving of irrendentism:
Not that Mexico has the combat power to take back the territory that they lost to the United States in the 19th Century, but it is clear that if they could, they'd have the support of American conservatives.

COMMENT MODERATION IS IN EFFECT UFN. This means that if you are an insulting dick, nobody will ever see it.
Regardless of what the American media has portrayed within the USA. Everywhere else has seen US weakness. Should the US (Nato) have gotten out of Afstan, I've no argument there, as I am sure most thought it was a mission that had out lived its mission statement. But the withdrawal indicated to the world, that if you put your faith in US promises, you are probably are going to be left holding the bag. Putin is a nasty fellow, but he can read the wind. Western Europe will talk tough, but no French or German troops (the largest Nato allies in Europe) are going toe to toe with the Russians, I am not even sure the US military is ready for high intensity warfare, nor do I think the US population has their heart in this (but I am at best an expat and don't live in ConUS or Alaska so I honestly don't know). I hope Ukraine can work out a deal, and be careful who they put their faith in going forward.
ReplyDeleteThe Russians fled Afghanistan, too.
ReplyDeleteWell, no argument there (but it was actually the soviet union which is what they will claim). I don't know what the SU did in the late eighties early nineties has to do directly with what is going on now. The US has displayed weakness. It always has consequences. (if I owned property in Taiwan and had a history of supporting Hong Kong or ever gave money online to "free Uyghur's I would be selling about now).
ReplyDeleteOh ya. And regarding the two withdrawals, the Soviet General was the last one to cross the bridge (allegedly) and even gave a speech prior. It looked orderly. Last fall looked anything but orderly.
ReplyDeleteCM, you said about a year ago that a person could be a patriotic American, or support Trump, but not both. That hasn't changed, only become clearer.
ReplyDeleteWar. A war of acquisition too. I really hoped we were done with this crap as a world, but I see not. Damn. I can only hope Russia gets their ass handed to them but I don't hold out much on that idea.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that US politicians are in favor of this is even more unsettling. There are far too many traitors in our own government and most of them are Repubs.
They scream to be true patriots yet they give aid and comfort to our enemy.
We seriously need a rearrangement of the chairs, with many left open for real Patriots.

Ukraine officers served in Afghanistan. It was the Soviet Union. And that display of weakness sunk them.
ReplyDeleteWell. When you are calling people traitors, who support a country that you are not at war with, or maybe just recognize that you have no dog in this fight, and you claim they are traitors (to whom). When its public accessible knowledge that a large segment of your political class (both your parties) have relatives who made out like bandits with Ukraine 'companies'. Then I guess you have bigger problems than divided government. Hope the US can get through this. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteSo, you're not planning on ever coming back?
ReplyDeleteGood thing. Save us the trouble of deporting you ...
So the goddamn Republicans haven't come up with a clear position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but they sure are speaking with one voice on what the root cause of all trouble in the world: weakness.
ReplyDeleteSpecifically, Joe Biden's weakness.
I'm old enough to remember the howling outrage I received when I criticized W/Cheney's foreign wars. "You're either with us or with the terrorists" I seem to recall "Pinko socialist surrender monkeys" was also a big hit back then.
But since we're discussing weakness, can we note for the record that the former Republican president must think that Putin's dick tastes like Belgian chocolate, because he's been just sucking away on that puppy for years now, and still doing so this very minute. Not seeing a whole lot of strength in that position.

Ten Bears: can't handle anyone who may disagree with you? My point is only, I don't live in the US. So, Good luck.
ReplyDeleteRemember the rules, people. Keep it civil.
ReplyDeleteAll respect Mr. Misfit. Just pointing it out. I don't always agree with all I read here, but I don't live in the states so I fully expect we could see things differently. I respect the fact you let me stay and comment. God bless.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, Cap'n, I can't have any fun ...
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty worried about Chernobyl. Great big dirty-nuke. As erratic as the jet-stream is these day's ~ as erratic as Putin ~ there's no telling what can happen ~ from Bend to Boston ~ if they crack that concrete dome. Napolean Muscovite has made some allusions ~ threats ~ to being open to low-level nukes, without being entirely clear as to the delivery.
This is serious shit and you are absolutely right, I have better things to do with my time than troll Muscovite trolls.
To be clear, I am not asking everyone to agree. I am asking, no, requiring, that they play nice in this space. That includes insults.
ReplyDeleteWell. No offence Ten Bears. If you are referring to me. I don't live in Moscow... LOL. I live in a neighboring country to the US. And am very aware of how the US treats neighbours whom it takes a disliking to. Does that mean I dislike them (you guys)? Absolutely not. I figure we need to elect people who can work with the bunch you guys elect, sometimes we screw up. We have no control over who you all elect. Never been called a Muscovite troll (if you were referring to me) LOL. On the second note: I too am concerned about chernobyl. Let us hope that both sides keep it in mind, playing with dynamite. Pray for the people of the Ukraine region. They are getting a nasty wake up call.
