Pandemic News That Should Surprise No One

In October, 25 out of every 100,000 residents of heavily Trump counties died from Covid, more than three times higher than the rate in heavily Biden counties (7.8 per 100,000). October was the fifth consecutive month that the percentage gap between the death rates in Trump counties and Biden counties widened.

It just boggles the mind. TFG touted his Operation Warp Speed, but then he and the Right-Wing Noise Machine decided to make getting vaccinated and taking easy precautions agaist getting infected into partisan issues. TFG was so vain that he refused to be photographed being inoculated.

Not being vaccinated is the hill that they are, literally, choosing to die on.

  1. And yet, folks in California are getting Covid at a higher rate than the folks in Florida....Mandate vs non-mandate. Who you gonna believe: The Media and Feds or your lyin' eyes?
What we are seeing here is the fact that there is no actual "science" in the Covid war....only propaganda.
    Reality wins though.

  2. B: Really good example of why MAGA staters (or county dwellers if you actually look at the data) are dying at three to four times the rate of more Democratic leaning counties. They've turned a public health issue into a goddamn culture war, and they are literally losing.
As for Florida and California, as of today California has less than half of the covid deaths per capita than Florida (0.2 per 100,000 vs 0.5), and the ones we do have are almost all from the conservative leaning and vaccine resistant areas of the state. California is a big place, and we do have our share of suicidally ignorant assholes. In Madera County where I live, there are about ten covid deaths daily for a population of 157,000. It skews Republican by 71% to 29%.

  3. D: Not sure where you get your data, but I think it is weeks or more out of date:

    https://news.yahoo.com/masked-california-apos-covid-rate-131559749.html

I realize it doesn't fit your Fauci Meme-Of-the-day and all, and it is only the 7 day numbers, but the rate for Florida is 0.02, and California's is 0.04 as of the latest data.

  4. B, here in Tulare County, vaxx rates are at 46%, and Kaweah Delta in the county seat, Visalia, was reportedly overwhelmed by the cases of COVID it was having to deal with. Is it pure coincidence that we are a county so red that both Devin Nunes and Kevin McCarthy are our reps?

The data was at the link I provided and was current as of today.

  6. Yes, in the Red areas of Ca. there is a lag in vaccinations, but not in the Majority of the state. California is a big state with a red center and a blue exterior and the blues win.
Sorry to mess with your info.
