A 30-year-old Texas man who earlier this summer organized an anti-mask rally has died after catching COVID-19, his pregnant wife announced.
Caleb Wallace died Saturday after weeks on a ventilator at a San Angelo hospital, the San Angelo Standard Times reported.
...
Wallace was a known mask opponent and founder of the “The San Angelo Freedom Defenders,” the Huffington Post reported.
...
When he first fell ill in late July, Wallace initially refused to get tested or see a doctor because he didn’t want to be part of COVID-19 statistics, the San Angelo Standard-Times reported, so he self-treated with Ivermectin, Vitamin C, zinc aspirin and an inhaler.
Soon, he had no choice but to seek medical treatment and was hospitalized.
The dead guy was apparently a member of a local milita group that is active in spreading anti-vaccine propaganda. He swallowed all of that bullshit, whole, including the crank treatments for Covid.
It didn't have to be this way, but the far-Right media seems to be happy to keep seeing the members of their base going into graves.
No need to fear so called covid-19 or get vaccinated because: 1) Hoax, unless perfectly harmless- just like flu, 2) Gates chips, 3) New World Order, 4) My immune system, 5) Untested experimental vaccines dangerous compared with bleach up the ass, horse wormer goo, random toxic waste or, you know, covid-19, 6) I want to birth many babies and vaccines cause sterility, 7) Baby Jebus will protect me, 8) My God Emperor and personal savior Permenant President trump will save me from the DemonCrap pedophile cannibal so-called covid-19 devised to embarrass Our Savior, 9) All these stories of unvaccinated unmasked deaths are Lame-stream left leaning media lies. They are all alive and feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteIn conclusion, LIbsPwoNed! Fuck your feeling! All is going according to Q-plan! Don't change course! Winning!! Inaugural August 19th for real president! The Storm is Still Coming! Again.
I admit I grew up in a sheltered liberal environment, but all my life I have never imagined that there were so many stupid people out there. Not just cut off their nose to spite their face stupid. But, whole hog Die to own the liberals stupid.
ReplyDeleteI fear for our country. I would fear more but the stupids seem to be fine with dying off in mass.

Some of the far right media have suffered the same fate.
ReplyDeleteBy my count the rate for the right media has suffered
a fairly large and growing number of on air antivax/mask
people in the last week alone.
It seems they believe they can game a virus that for the
unvaxed is many more times catchable and significantly
more lethal. Place your bets folks.
Eck!
Over the last few days, I have looked at more information about that “study” from overseas about the use of ivermectin. You know, the one that was cited as evidence that it could be used to treat Covid-19 patients. Well, it seems that the “peer-reviewed” study has been taken down, and parts of it were plagiarized from other legitimate studies. And there are still people who take the position that the vaccine is not safe nor effective. I say we do a study of those that didn’t take the vaccine and were put on ventilators in a hospital. Let’s interview them. Or not, cause they’re dead.

It's an under reported story that the right is so heavily invested in the sales of various forms of snake oil. These grifts are their stock and trade. See also: Gingrich, Newton Leroy and Jones, Alexander Emerick.

Back in 1895 the term "Yellow Journalism" appeared. It was based on the fact that there were newspapers competing for readers and it didn't bother them who was hurt as a result their lies and twisted truths. It has been blamed for pushing for Spanish-American war. Nowadays we have electronic news sources and they still compete for viewers and readers and some don't care if they get hurt others. You don't hear about hydroxchloroquine anymore instead they switched to a farm animal dewormer. Their only goal is to keep their audience riled up and listening to them and 25 to 35% of the people jump right in on that.
ReplyDeleteSay what you will about the man, and believe me, local opinions vary WIDELY…
ReplyDeleteBut, and it’s a fairly large BUT… he was not in a militia. This isn’t the Midwest where there’s a bunch of white supremacist whackadoodles drilling in the woods behind every other trailer park.
At best, these were the same guys who demonstrated for Open Carry a few years ago and Constitutional Carry this legislative cycle. I was going to call them Tea Party leftovers, but it occurs to me that he was in junior high when that was a thing. It irritates the shit out of me when we in West Texas get painted with the same broad brush of implied racism that’s used for every other rural part of the country. We’re supposed to be the only ones that are allowed to do that… ;-)
I didn’t know him, but I know a lot of folks who did, and the general consensus was that he was a good husband and dad who had some misguided views generated by a general distrust of the .gov. I remember distrust of the feds, however misguided, was a Liberal quality.
The problem, DWW, is that his pregnant wife and three little girls, all of whom wore masks, now face a lifetime of paying for his misguided views. The pisser is those who disseminate those views seldom pay any price.
