Donald Rumsfeld, the two-time defense secretary and one-time presidential candidate whose reputation as a skilled bureaucrat and visionary of a modern U.S. military was unraveled by the long and costly Iraq war, died Tuesday. He was 88.
Rumsfeld was a disgusting piece of shit who tried to make NYC's financial crisis in 1975 even worse, on the hope that the Wall Street firms would flee to Chiraq. That was around the time that he and Dick Cheney covered up war crimes committed during the Vietnam War.
Rumsfeld was instrumental in hollowing out the Navy; the collisions-at-sea of the USS McCain and the USS Fitzgerald can be attributed, in part, to Rumsfeld's gutting of training and of manning.
Rumsfeld complicity in the Iraq War is obvious to the most casual observer, as was his willingness to oversee the commission of war crimes.
Rumsfeld richly deserved to spend the rest of his life in a prison cell, not in a cushy retirement.
May he both burn and rot in Hell. May his name become a synonym for a bureaucratic fuckup of epic proportions.
