Grinding

The Manhattan district attorney’s office has informed Donald J. Trump’s lawyers that it is considering criminal charges against his family business, the Trump Organization, in connection with fringe benefits the company awarded a top executive, according to several people with knowledge of the matter.

The prosecutors had been building a case for months against the executive, Allen H. Weisselberg, as part of an effort to pressure him to cooperate with a broader inquiry into Mr. Trump’s business dealings. But it was not previously known that the Trump Organization also might face charges.
...
“In my more than 50 years of practice, never before have I seen a district attorney’s office target a company over employee compensation or fringe benefits,” said Ronald P. Fischetti, a personal lawyer for Mr. Trump. “It’s ridiculous and outrageous.

I'm not a criminal defense attorney, but it seems to me that arguing that "nobody's ever been charged with breaking this law before" is a pretty weak argument to make.

The Trump family has been grifting for decades. For anyone to assert that any organization with the name "Trump" attached is honest and ethical is laughable.

  2. Let's see, Trump U? Trump Foundation? Both busted and closed down for criminal activity. Will the Trump Organization be next? Could Fergus perhaps have gotten a clue after his bogus university and slush fund of a foundation were closed down?
Thing is, none of this shit would have happened if he had stayed in the corrupt real estate developer burning through a half billion of daddy's dollars lane, but he got on "The Apprentice" and the fame went to his head, and like any wealthy spoiled brat, he didn't know how or when to stop.
He got out of the above mentioned trouble by paying, if I recall correctly, twenty seven million dollars. If his core business is disabled by these proceedings, might he have to liquidate some assets to come clean?

  4. Can't be that bad of a "crime family" if it's all lower case.

  5. Al Capone's lawyer said that in all his fifty years as a lawyer he never heard of anyone being prosecuted cheating on his income taxes. Sometimes prosecutors have to work with the evidence they can bring to the courtroom even when they are sure that more crimes have been committed. One of the few things Trump learned was how not to leave any evidence.

  6. And if it were anyone beside Trump, then this would never have been investigated, much less prosecuted.

Shame they won't look at the Biden Family (via Hunter, where they actually HAVE evidence) as closely.
But then again, if Democrats and Liberals didn't have double standards, they'd have no standards at all

  7. What evidence, B? A laptop that could’ve belonged to Hunter?

Hunter Biden joined the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma in 2014, around the time his father, then vice president, was helping conduct the Obama administration’s foreign policy with Ukraine.

Senate Republicans said in a recent report that the appointment may have posed a conflict of interest, but they did not present evidence that the hiring influenced U.S. policies.

Trump and his supporters, meanwhile, have advanced a widely discredited theory that Biden pushed for the firing of Ukraine’s top prosecutor to protect his son and Burisma from investigation. Biden did indeed press for the prosecutor’s firing, but that’s because he was reflecting the official position of not only the Obama administration but many Western countries and because the prosecutor was perceived as soft on corruption.

WHAT DOES THE NEW YORK POST SAY?

The main email highlighted by the Post is an April 2015 message that the newspaper said was sent to Hunter Biden by Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to Burisma’s board. In it, he thanks the younger Biden “for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent (sic) some time together. It’s realty (sic) an honor and pleasure.”

The wording makes it unclear if he actually met Joe Biden. The Biden campaign said in a statement that it reviewed Biden’s schedules from the time and that no meeting as described by the newspaper took place.

HOW DID THE POST OBTAIN THE EMAILS?

It’s a tangled saga. The Post says it received a copy of a hard drive containing the messages from Giuliani, who has pushed the idea that Ukraine was trying to interfere with the 2016 election and that the younger Biden may have enriched himself by selling his access to his father.

The Post says the emails were part of a trove of data recovered from a laptop that was dropped off at a computer repair shop in Delaware in April 2019. It says the customer, whom the shop owner could not definitively identify as Hunter Biden, never paid for the service or retrieved the computer, and the owner made a copy of the hard drive that he provided to Giuliani’s lawyer.

Cause we all know that Hunter is dumb enough to leave a laptop to be fixed without definitely identifying himself as the owner.

  8. B
Question is, how was trump not prosecuted decades back for crime, grifting, racial discrimination, sexual predation, income tax evasion. Could it be white and rich man privilege? Nah, that can't be it. Just lucky I guess. Good genes maybe?

  9. Oh, comon' *, you can do better than that.

Occurs to me your last couple of posts have been pretty half-hearted.

It's like you're not even trying anymore ...

  10. B,

    OK we'll play.

If DRUMPF is successfully proscecuted for his transgressions
then we have a case for Hunter. If it doesn't happen then how
can we even consider Hunter as a bad boy.

In your world that only goes one way and that is a fals case
and just another one of you deflections as in whatabout....

In the end DA resents fact, detailed information of maybe
an alleged event that has little meaning compare to the
32,000 lies from drumpf. Did you (B) even read that
article? Even less so compared to Giulani's, and several
other convicted felons for drumpf. Actual events that
so far have lead to suspension of their licenses to
    practice law.

Facts, quotes, and not random mutterings that agree
with some Qanon propaganda will be considered. History
    has not seen that yet.

    Eck!

  11. Smopes. Like you can use them as a credible source anymore. Not credible for years.

    Yes, I read the article.
And yes, Hunter has liots of dirt on him, even beyond the laptop.
Double standards are the only standards you folks have. You know it, and you aren't even ashamed of that fact.

  12. Hunter has liots of dirt on him, even beyond the laptop.

That you think someone corrupt as fuck would leave his laptop with someone who couldn’t definitely identify him as the owner tell us that your assertions about his other sins are equally fact-free as your other contributions here. You are easily fooled by the latest RNC propaganda ops. See how that works?

  13. Half-hearted, at best.

It's OK to come out, *, you'll feel better ...

  14. TB, to whom are you referring?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Nah, Snopes has been an excellent source for discrediting B-Q-anon claims.

B, make an effort at least. Alleged laptop with no chain of custody
and more lies following it than the drive could hold. No court
would even consider it for evidence. It is barely at the level
    of hearsay.

As usual assertions of non-fact, Qanaon spew, and drumpf BS.

    Eck!
