On another note, can someone please enlighten me as to the fascination that Americans have with the royal family of the third-rate core remnant of an empire? And don't tell me that "it's because they're royalty." Nobody seems to give a damn about the royal families of Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Thailand, Oman, Vietnam or Japan.

ReplyDeleteI look at them at being born into a permanent gig at a living history museum, like Colonial Williamsburg. But that's about as far as their relevance goes in the modern world. The rest of it is a golden prison.

On the other side of the coin, they do far more to help people than the future ex-wife of TFG. What little charitable work that she has done seemed to be done with all of the enthusiasm of a zek.
