Lightening Cuts in Gun Slides

Tam writes about them.

I firmly believe that the opening cuts on slides are, well, a sign of drain bamage. The slide is also known as a "dust cover" for good reasons.

If a fully-enclosed dust cover wasn't a good idea, John Moses Browning, Jr. would have done away with them.

  1. They make the slide hit frame faster, that doesn't do durability any favors. Also it shooting high pressured loads the breech unlocks sooner making a ruptured case more likely, doesn't do your fingers any favors.
