Grinding Down the Proud Boys

It is past time for the Proud Boys to be designated as a terrorist organization:

The Justice Department unsealed conspiracy charges against five people associated with the Proud Boys on Thursday in the latest and largest move against the far-right group's coordinated role in the insurrection last month.

In a criminal complaint, an FBI agent described how the group "moved closely to each other" inside the Capitol on January 6 and wore pieces of fluorescent orange tape affixed to their clothing or gear.
Some are accused of leading crowds of rioters as they pushed through multiple police lines and made their way through the Capitol grounds. They all wore tactical-style gear, including helmets and gloves. One had a wooden club or ax handle that was initially disguised as a flag.
...
The conspiracy charges are likely to grow. In a footnote in the affidavit, the FBI agent said they believe more people may be involved in the conspiracy and that an investigation is ongoing.

The further that the FBI digs into this, the worse this is going to get. This entire stinking mess has to be dragged out into the light of day.

The incitement by Trump of this has been well documented. And it's interesting that a lot of the defendants are arguing that they only did what Trump told them to do. But that's not going to get them very far.

Meanwhile, another lawyer has been arrested in subsequent bullshit:

A Pennsylvania lawyer threatened to kill Democrats in the U.S. Senate and was on his way to Washington, D.C., with firearms and a “large amount of ammunition” when he was stopped by state police, federal prosecutors said Wednesday in announcing charges.

Kenelm Shirk III, 71, of Lebanon, was indicted Feb. 3 on a charge of threatening to murder a U.S. official. He pleaded not guilty at his initial court appearance and was locked up pending trial. His lawyer said Shirk had no intent to kill anyone.
...
After his arrest, Shirk was taken to a hospital for an emergency mental health evaluation. One nurse told police that Shirk threatened to kill his ex-wife, “but not today.” He also made a comment that he had to get up early enough to “beat traffic” and make it to government officials’ houses before they left for work in Washington, the nurse said.

This is that fool:
What is it with these older white dudes who believe that they have the right to kill people because their side lost the election?

  1. You gonna go after the leaders and organizers of Antifa too? Or are they safe 'cause they are on you side?

(actually, I'd like to see 'em both hounded out, as they are idiots and agitators, both sides. they come looking for violence)

  2. Who in Antifada has made threats to kill anybody, B? If you have names, I suggest you report them to your local FBI office.

Besides, didn’t your mother teach you two wrongs don’t make a right?

  3. Show me the attempts by antifa to overthrow a government , at least since May, 1945.

But really, B? You’re defending the Proud Boys?

  4. Oh, and how can someone die of a fentanyl overdose and be killed by a cop at the same time? This isn’t a Choose Your Own Adventure game book we’re talking about, but something that happened in real life.

  5. Seriously, who is this antifa you keep talking about? Do they have a leader? Do they pay dues? Do they have a clubhouse? Do they attend meetings? Are there chapters in other states? Do you get a membership card?

There is no such "organization" as antifa. It's a viewpoint or attitude. Just like some people are Trumpists.

  7. There is a particular grace in having Hoover's boys....who for so long harassed and destroyed legitimate civil rights demonstration and activists...finally, finally going after those who deny and attack ideals of American democracy: free and fair election, peaceful transfer of power and representation for all. Welcome to the side of the angels, guys.

  10. Antifa leader...

FDR, sent an army to overthrow the axis aka the fascist
and nationalistic regimes of Germany, Italy and later Japan.

Truman, who pressed the war to its end.

My father who went with the 5th army to Italy and beat Mussolini.

I can name at least three!

  11. I do not defend the Proud boys. I think they are as criminal as Antifa.

But of yer gonna go after one, then, un less you are using different standards for those you don't like, you gotta go after both for their tactics and threats.
(and if you can't use Google or another search engine to find the answers to your questions here, then I guess you are just being deiberately obtuse. Shame on you for your disingenuousness. You are all better than that (exept maybe Ten Bears)...where is your integrity?

Both of the above groups should be prosecuted. You should be ashamed that you are willing to prdecute The Proud Boys, but not Antifa.

Protest Arrests Show Regular Americans, Not Urban Antifa as Trump Claims
Court documents show that most protesters arrested this year were Americans caught up in the heat of the moment, not members of left-wing radical groups

So, tell us more about those antifa protestors not getting arrested, B. This was what I got from using a Google search on “antifa demonstrators arrested.

  13. B, you are, in point of fact, defending the Proud Boys when you conflate BLM marches and protests (which sought to highlight racial injustice and police abuse of people of color) with the Capitol Hill insurrection (which sought to reverse the results of a free and fair election).

    BLM-- Seeking to correct inequities.

Proud Boys-- Seeking to impose fascism.

I don't believe it's terribly hard to see the distinction. Obviously, YMMV.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Criminal tactics are the hallmark of both. Yet you excuse the BLM folks for "Seeking to correct inequities" by burning and looting. Odd how you think that that is ok.
    I don't, for ether side.

However, the Proud Boys, as far as I can tell, are fighting the Fascists that Antifa really are. It matters not, however, because their tactics are effectively the same....and are illegal. Both should be prosecuted for criminal behavior. As should the Capitol rioters and BLM looters and rioters.

You can make all the excuses you want, but you are willing to overlook some things simply because you have sympathies for their cause...and that shows you are really not for the rule of law, nor are you honest nor have any integrity. THe eneds don't justify the means. You were once so much better than that.

  16. Dear, dear, B., you just can’t stop the kool aid, can you, There is plenty of data (arrest records, pictures, videos, etc) showing a large part of the “rioting and violence” you decry accompanying BLM protests was the responsibility of right wing provocateurs, but you happily stick your head further up Donnie’s ass to ignore that fact, I assume you will now attempt a whataboutistic display with regards to the shadowy Antifa busloads reported on Jan 6...by no verified sources.

Much like the lose of people down the QAnon rathole, we have clearly lost B. to the conspiracy wing of the Republican Party, soon to be reformed as the Freedom/Patriot/Trump Party. It is a sign of the lost of intellectual rigor that has pervaded the right for the last 40 plus years, that a complete failure of ability to evaluate data and facts in a rational manner is no longer considered disqualifying for leadership roles.
