Random Thoughts

Where do the QAnon believers go now? Wasn't yesterday supposed to be the "Great Awakening", when there would be a military coup, led by Donald Trump, and all leading Democratic politicians would be arrested, sent to GTMO and then executed on live TV? Well, guess what? Trump is in Florida, fuming about his loss of status as he prepares for another one of his endless rounds of golf. Right now, the QAnon crazies are as mockable as those who bought into the rapture hoax or the crap about the Mayan calendar, but not as pitiable as the Heaven's Gate adherents.

Trump's biggest worry is whether or not he can count on his Secret Service detail to fend off process servers and arrest warrants. Since he's only going to be playing at his clubs, he won't have to worry about tee times. Melania is allegedly house-hunting, as Trump's 3,000 sq.ft. quarters at Mar-a-Lago isn't apparently big enough for the both of them.

Think about this visual: When President Biden gives his first congressional address, the two congressional leaders presiding and sitting behind him (and one level up) will both be women.

Sen. Ben Sasse had a few things to say about the events of the last few weeks and how it relates to his party:

[M]y party faces a choice: We can dedicate ourselves to defending the Constitution and perpetuating our best American institutions and traditions, or we can be a party of conspiracy theories, cable-news fantasies, and the ruin that comes with them. We can be the party of Eisenhower, or the party of the conspiracist Alex Jones. We can applaud Officer Goodman or side with the mob he outwitted. We cannot do both.
....
Until last week, many party leaders and consultants thought they could preach the Constitution while winking at QAnon. They can’t. The GOP must reject conspiracy theories or be consumed by them. Now is the time to decide what this party is about.

I suspect it won't be as clean as that, The GOP may fracture, with the loons going one way and the moderates going another. But we shall see.

I've seen a few comments elsewhere that all of the security precautions were for nothing. That, of course, is balderdash. Nobody was going to take a chance of a repeat of the 1/6/21 insurrection; especially since the same seditious fools who were talking in advance of the Trumpist coup attempt were talking about doing bad shit on Inauguration Day.

Two things may have deterred them. First, the clear fact that their failed coup was not supported by an overwheming majority of the American people, as friends, family and co-workers of the insurrectionists have been turning them in with eagerness and zeal. Second, there were well over ten thousand National Gurdsmen, standing around in the cold, carrying loaded weapons and getting truly pissed off at the imbeciles whose antics made their presence necessary.

  1. I dunno Cap'n, in some circles it's dared suggested the Ghost Dance is working, just took a lot longer than hoped for. There's a lot to be said of the turning of the dun, the Mayan new epoch, for example just how did they calculate a half-million year calendar, and why does it coincide so with what is increasingly recognized as the dawn of a new epoch: the Anthropocene? La la la lala la la the Age of Aquarius? Sadly, the science is stomped on in leau of the hocus-pocus, Hollywood and the Flat Earthers the heroes of the day.

It was the Aztecs that predicted the end of the world - by fire.

  2. Q is not dead. He is safely bunkered in a secret cave in a certain Western state which for security reasons I cannot name, other than to tell you that it begins with a U and ends with an H.

There Q is monitoring the the Illuminati and a new group, the Cognoscenti, who are jointly hatching a plot to kill Donald Trump (and the rest of us red blooded Americans) by poisoning our meat so that the filthy pedophiles can steal our children and crown Hunter Biden Prince Regent. Our meat supply is no longer safe!

I mean, do you really think it's a mere coincidence that so many Libtards are now eating all-vegetable Impossible Burgers? I rest my case.

    Yours crankily,

  3. I see the split in the rethug party going three ways...

    Moderate republicans
    Radical conservative republicans
    conspiracy theory idiots

Good luck the the first group.

    Trumptards:
As to Q... they are likely to see their ranks dwindle as more and
more of them realize they have been had. If you followed the cult
into the world of mysticism and lies almost acting like religion,
its on you. If you let your actions bring you to DC and other
places you have a real problem and there is no way out. Your
only hope is to give up who you felt directed you, make it
    someone tangible to the law.

The other so called wanna be special bad white guys, you do not
support the Constitution nor laws of the land. You are not the
revolutionaires operating in support of the then fledgling
government to over turn a true oppressive king. If anything
you were trying to create a king who was oppressive. Good news
is you outed yourselves and your supporters and groups of you
will be rounded up and charged. Statute of limitations is long
enough for some of those crimes and longer for others.
    Run, run hard, keep running.

The evangelicals that sided with Q or other seditionists, look
inside what you have supported. If you think you won your
fooling yourselves. The goals represent all the things
attributable to being ungodly and less than christian. You
have confused theocratic nation building with being a good
steward of civilisation and the earth. Doing that you have
helped no one and hurt many.

  4. The special case Melania...

The 3K space is not big enough is cover BS, just another Drumpf lie.

The MAr-a-largo upgrades run counter to the agreement making it a
private club and disallows living quarters there. Apparently as
Preznut he could bully around that but rules is rules and he needs
a real home as NYC is unsafe for him.

  5. We used to comfort ourselves with the thought that the Republican Party would eventually split because religion is bad for business.

But religion a'n't what it used to be, nor business neither. Today they are both about unaccountability, full stop.

That, and blind(*) hatred of Democrats, is what keeps all of the Republican constituencies together, and it is quite enough.

(*) as in, impervious to input -- apologies for the ableist connotations, but there does not seem to be a better word.

  6. I agree with your assessment of the security precautions. The 1/6 crowd were the dog that caught the car, and the National Guard was proof that the the car, in fact, had a much bigger dog.I'm upset by the number of lives that will be ground to powder in the legal system, but it was an aphorism among commercial fishermen that " If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be tough"

  7. I have this picture of Melania designing uniforms for the Mar-A-Lago staff to look like banana republic military officers with one for DJT as the generalissmo. Then he can be saluted by them, have close order drill, parades and reviews, etc in his very own private vest-pocket despotate.
This could be viewed from the outside like some zoo or cautionary theme park. And all the Trump supporters could come to breathe the stench, relive their days of glory and delusion and buy souvenirs such as MyPillows (the exclusive dealer), ex-presidential pardons, gold-plated toilets and extra-long red ties at the gift shop.
A bigger draw than Disney World.

  8. " truly pissed off at the imbeciles whose antics made their presence necessary. " To say nothing of the DC cops who would probably dearly love to get some of their own back by beating the crap out the 1/6 loons
