76 Years

Seventy six years ago, the Red Army liberated Auschwitz. The day is now marked as International Honocaust Remeberance Day.

It probably bears reminding that the Germans did not go from zero to death camps overnight. It took many, many years of discrimination, dehumanization, propaganda and hatred to turn the German people from having Jews as neighbors to studffing them into boxcars.

The same holds true for the French, where anti-semitism varied between official policy and being winked at for a very long time. The French, of course, were not the only country which embraced getting rid of Jews. There were individual acts of heroism. There were national acts of shame.

As long as there is a Jew on this planet, the nation of Denmark will be honored.

  1. My younger son is named after Raoul Wallenberg, to hopefully keep the memory of his heroism going forward one more generation. Thanks for the shout out.

  2. In 2019, my wife and I visited the Natzweiler-Struthof Concentration Camp in eastern France. It was mainly used for housing about 52,000 anti-German resistance fighters and partisans, but was also used for medical experiments on several dozen Jews. While I have spent a lifetime reading about the camps, this was my first time actually visiting one. It was... a powerful experience.

I shot a short film there and improvised a piano soundtrack, in honor of those who experienced those horrors. **Please turn on the Captions feature to see all the information.**

  3. Will you PLEASE edit your posts before uploading them? The content is often important, but obscured by the abysmal grammar and spelling errors. If you’re going to be a writer and commentator, edit your posts before uploading them! It’s embarrassing and unprofessional, and makes it harder for people to take you seriously when you have spelling errors like a 16 year old posting from their parent’s basement. If you’re going to spend all of your time trash talking other people, the least you can do is be articulate yourself. Time to step it up. As you yourself say, “Don’t be a jackass.”

  4. Under the circumstances, Rusty, it is endemic upon you to provide evidence to support your allegations. Else, it makes it harder for people to take you seriously when you post like a 16 year old from their parent’s basement at three in the morning. If you’re going to spend time trash talking other people, the least you can do is articulate yourself.

  5. I read the Comrade daily and seldom see typos or mispelling, and those are quickly corrected. Those trash talked here usually need it badly. Are you a Trumpite with wee hurt feelings? Your case lacks merit.

  7. So you go around to random blogs and criticize the spelling and grammar therein? This is your calling, your hobby? This is what gives you pleasure?

See, you showed up in my blog's bomment section, not ever having engaged in anything substantive (to my recollection) and your self-imposed mission is to pick apart my writng, not substantively, but the grammar and spelling?

Gess what, Rusty? I don't need your carping, your crap. Feel free to go darken some other corner of the World Wide Web.

    1. Your “bomment section”? Incredible...

No, I’ve actually never commented on another blog’s grammar. Most of the blogs I follow I just follow for entertainment, and even the lightest and stupidest ones edit themselves before posting. I started following yours for the informational content. And a political kindred spirit in a country of tRumpish insanity. But as time has gone on and I’ve seen you butcher important content over and over again, for the simple reason that you clearly don’t care enough to take a minute or two and proofread what you write...I couldn’t stand it any longer. This post (that you STILL have NOT CORRECTED) broke me. I’m not Jewish, but after seeing you BUTCHER the name of an important “honocaust” memorial...you can call it my calling to point it out if you want. As long as it makes a difference. Which in this case it hasn’t, because if you gave a shit you would have actually changed it immediately. But you clearly don’t care about the things you choose to write about, you just post these things to get followers. Well, I’ll make you and all of your sycophants happy, and unsubscribe. I can’t take it any longer.
No, this is not a hobby, and it doesn’t give me pleasure. It makes me fucking sad.

  9. Rusty,

I respectfully suggest that you either put up with my spelling and grammatical errors or go somewhere else.

Nobody is paying me for this shit. Certainly, not you. And, to be frank about it, I'm just contrary enough to start trhwoing in some random teepos because I know it's going to piss you off.
